Brendan King for UA Council

Brendan King for UA Council Elect Brendan King to Upper Arlington City Council. Brendan will provide friendly, responsive leadership and collaborative solutions for UA's future.

Thank you for your interest in Upper Arlington and my campaign. I am honored to be a part of this year’s race for Upper Arlington City Council and I would like to ask for your consideration of my candidacy. I grew up in a family that greatly values public service, especially to Upper Arlington. For me, serving on Council will be a continuation of that commitment and the ultimate way to give back t

o a community that I love. I want to offer leadership to keep our community moving forward and I want to make sure our city administration and Council listen to our residents concerns. I am in this race because I want to help guide Upper Arlington to continue to be a wonderful place for us to raise our kids and some day for my kids to raise their families. Thank you for your consideration. I humbly ask for your support! Brendan King

It is my pleasure to endorse Brian Close for Upper Arlington City Council re-election. In my four years serving with Brian on City Council, he does his homework and works hard while remaining an independent voice. He has no problem tackling the complicated issues and advocating for the residents of UA. Please join me in voting for Brian on Tuesday.

With the election behind us, let’s work together to restore our community’s fall beauty by taking down this year’s crop of yard signs. Election signs can be recycled by either dropping them off at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road (by the Police bay at the south of the building please), or by taking them to SWACO’s collection event, from 8-11 am, on Saturday, November 9, at the Bill McDonald Athletic Complex, 4990 Olentangy River Road.

It is truly an honor to have been re-elected to Upper Arlington City Council. I am so grateful to all of you who voted to re-elect me and I am proud of the campaign I ran.

I especially want to thank my family for their support, love and sacrifice throughout this campaign process.

All of the candidates are to be congratulated and admired for their willingness to serve - and I want to congratulate John and Michaela for their successful campaigns. I am excited to serve our community for another four years. Thank you Upper Arlington.

I ran for Upper Arlington City Council four years ago because I felt that our community needed healing and someone who could bring people together and work through some complex issues. I am proud of my work on Council and I believe the city is in a much better place than where we were four years ago. I'm particularly proud of helping our community restore civil dialogue and open up the way our Council communicates with residents.

I believe our city is on a great path and I believe my experience makes me well suited to continue to represent our residents and lead our community into the future. Thank you for your consideration and I humbly ask for your vote for re-election to UA City Council.

One of the specific things Brendan will advocate for in a 2nd term on UA City Council will be to help find a productive use for the KIngsdale Macy's site. The Macy’s store closed and was purchased by the Kroger company more than four years ago. The city has been more than patient with the property owners to develop this commercial gem in the heart of UA. The time is now to get serious about how to develop this property and Brendan promises to work proactively with the city, community leaders, and the property owners to find a sensible solution that fits the neighborhood. There are several reasons that the tone from UA City Council has been much improved the past couple of years. One of those reasons is that Brendan has been joined by partners on Council who are like-minded in their desires for open communication and civil discourse. Brendan is pleased to have the endorsements of Council Members Jim Lynch and Brian Close and looks forward to working with them for another term on Council. Brendan is proud of his service on Upper Arlington City Council the past four years and one of the things that he has made a hallmark of his time on City Council has been to provide responsive representation. Four years ago, our city’s communication was broken and there were significant parts of our community who felt the city administration wasn’t listening to them. Since Brendan joined Council, Council and the City has fostered a much more open dialogue with residents and created a much more transparent process. This has included opening up the Council floor to encourage and welcome more comments from residents, providing live and taped Web feeds of council proceedings, and reaching out for more community feedback to provide direction on complex issues. If re-elected, Brendan will continue to engage the community for input, will foster a transparent decision making process, and vows to be an independent, tireless advocate for us with the city. Brendan is proud of his service on Upper Arlington City Council the past four years and one of the things that he has championed has been to repair our aging infrastructure. The City has continued addressing long-needed infrastructure maintenance and repairs such as the reconstruction of Tremont Road, the pool replacement at Northam Park, Devon Pool upgrades, many street, curb and bridge replacements, along with numerous other projects. It is the responsibility of council to be good stewards of our public money. Brendan vows to continue to provide prudent oversight of our tax dollars and will make sure that our administration makes wise choices to improve our infrastructure. Brendan did a great job talking about his record over the last four years on UA City Council and his vision for the future at two candidate forums yesterday. Thank you to the Tri-Village Rotary Club and the Northwest Area Realty Association for hosting these candidate forums.

Brendan is proud of his service on Upper Arlington City Council the past four years and one of the things that he has championed has been to make our city services work more efficiently. Solid waste collection services has received strong reviews as it transitioned from an outdated pay for use sticker system to a fee system using a new provider. The City enhanced our 911 services by entering into a partnership with the City of Dublin to provide 911 services through the Northwest Regional Emergency Communications Center (NRECC). Brendan will continue to find ways to make our local government work better for you. Please let Brendan know if you have ideas on improving our City government's efficiency and services.
