HOME AT LAST 🏠 Amanda, a single mother of two, is moving into permanent housing after overcoming significant barriers and achieving major personal growth during her time in the program.

When Amanda entered the shelter, she was navigating recovery from previous substance abuse, had recently started a new job, and was facing an open DCFS case. Despite these challenges, she remained focused on creating a better future for herself and her children.

Throughout the program, Amanda consistently worked toward stability, maintained employment, and secured a new job opportunity that helped strengthen her financial independence. One of her greatest accomplishments was successfully closing her DCFS case, allowing her family to move forward with renewed confidence.

By the completion of the program, Amanda had saved nearly $8,500 and demonstrated tremendous perseverance, accountability, and growth. We are so proud of Amanda for navigating and conquering every obstacle in front of her and paving a new path for her family, and we're excited to see them begin a new chapter! 💜

Throughout May, our Help Desk connected 985 individuals and 260 families to essential resources, compassionate support, and pathways toward stability. With children out of school and many households facing increased grocery costs and reduced access to school meals, food insecurity often becomes more urgent during the summer. Our Help Desk remains a critical first point of support, care, and practical assistance.

STOCK OUR SUMMER PANTRY! 🌞 As we head into the busy summer season, the needs within our community continue to grow. Summer is often a time when many families face increased food insecurity, making donations to our food pantry more critical than ever in helping provide access to nutritious, quality food. With your support, we can help keep our pantry stocked and ensure families have the nourishment they need throughout the summer months.

Donations can be dropped off:

We are pausing our volunteer orientations in the month of June. While we normally schedule our monthly orientations on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month on Zoom, we are currently restructuring and improving our volunteer program to ensure we maximize the time and efforts of every individual and group that partners with us in serving our families and community.

If you are already in our active volunteer pool, keep an eye out for further communication. If you are considering a volunteer opportunity with Foothill Family Shelter, stay tuned for further announcements in the near future. We look forward to a strengthened and more impactful volunteer network that will be seen and felt across our programs! 🙏💜
