Foothill Family Shelter was recently honored to attend the Inland Empire Community Foundation CIELO Fund Award event and receive a $6,000 grant to support and expand our services! The CIELO Fund’s mission is to uplift and invest in organizations, initiatives and ideas that are led by – and serve – Latinos in the Inland Empire, and we are grateful to have its support in providing housing and hope in our community.

The CIELO event was a great opportunity to meet and catch up with many of our community partners, advocates and fellow organizations that are strengthening the Inland Empire by empowering its residents. Our work requires support, resources, and partners that extend far beyond our Upland office, including our grant writer Lorena Gomez and IECF community partner Liliana Adriani.

Thank you to every individual doing the important work both in and through IECF, and for enhancing our capacity to strengthen families in our community!

🦃 We are officially ONE MONTH AWAY from one of our biggest events of the year: our annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway! Every year, more than 1,000 families count on us to help secure an abundant Thanksgiving meal for everyone at their table.

If you are one of those families, we can't wait to see you and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving in person! Please save this flyer, save the date, and remember your valid ID.

This impactful yearly effort depends on the participation and generosity of our entire community. Businesses, schools, churches, service clubs, and individuals join us in providing complete Thanksgiving baskets filled with everything needed to prepare a warm holiday meal, and we're inviting everyone who's able to provide a basket this year. Baskets will be collected through November 10th and may be dropped off anytime during business hours (see below).

Whether you're collecting a basket, donating a basket, or showing up on November 21 to distribute a basket, we can't wait to see you! 🦃🙏🍂

L.E.A.R.N. SPOTLIGHT: SCHOOL ON WHEELS 🚌 Foothill Family Shelter's L.E.A.R.N. sessions for parents is all about connecting our families with resources, opportunities, and community support that help them thrive.

We recently had the pleasure of learning more about School on Wheels, an incredible organization dedicated to supporting children experiencing homelessness through educational assistance and mentorship by offering:

🎓 FREE one-on-one tutoring
🎓 Educational support to help children stay on track academically
🎓 School supplies and additional resources to encourage academic success

We also explored additional opportunities to support our families, including scholarships for extracurricular activities, assistance with essential needs, and resources that promote children's social and emotional well-being.

A special thank you to our wonderful host, Riley Cobian, who has dedicated 10 years to School on Wheels! Riley's knowledge, passion, and commitment to helping children succeed truly shine through, and we are grateful for the time spent sharing these valuable resources and discussing ways to better support the families in our community.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed, regardless of their housing circumstances.We look forward to strengthening community connections and exploring opportunities that help remove barriers and create brighter futures for the children and families we serve!

The Heroes for Hope 5K returns Sunday, November 8 in Claremont! Hosted in partnership with North Hills Church and the Claremont Colleges, this annual event brings the community together for a morning centered on movement and generosity, raising funds for Foothill Family Shelter under the sun and beautiful trees of Claremont.
