🌳 Happy National Love a Tree Day! 🌳
Today, May 16, is National Love a Tree Day, and there is no place that embodies the spirit of this day quite like the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion in Mobile, Alabama.
The mansion is famous for its "Century-Old Oaks," a majestic grove of live oaks that creates a breathtaking canopy over the 12-acre estate. These trees aren't just beautiful; they are a living part of history. During the Civil War, the original oaks were cut down for tactical reasons, but Judge John Bragg saved acorns from those very trees. The massive oaks you see today were replanted in 1865 from those acorns, standing as a testament to resilience and the enduring legacy of nature.
