20 years has gone so much faster than I could have ever imagined. We’ve been through every up and down together. Marriage is not easy and it’s not lost on me that we’re lucky. Lucky to have each other and lucky to have the life we have. We went from the castle (where we met) to the altar and I’d do over again in a heartbeat. Cheers to 20, love. When I catch my breath, it’s you I breathe.

After 15 years in first grade, I’m moving to 2nd grade. 🥹

It’s bittersweet moving on. Knowing I’ll continue teaching reading to little ones makes me happy. I’m sad to leave my friends and teammates in first grade but looking to round out my teaching career and get a new spark.

I’ve taught third, fourth, kinder and first in my career, and now off to second I go. Reading specialist is still my end game but I love my school and 30 second commute, so I’ll wait it out. ❤️❤️

Wish me luck 🍀

I need suggestions for creative teachers in 2nd to follow to help me create fun math and reading stations. stations.

Happy 11th Birthday to Meatball!
This dog came when we needed him most. He provided friendship to Reid and companionship to me and Scott. He helped Reid get his words out and their bond fills my heart. Reaching 11 as a frenchie is not lost on me and I count my blessings everyday. Meaty has had a hard life. From allergies and a k9 training program almost killing him, he fought his way to stay with us. He means so much to our family. If you’ve been here for Reid’s journey with Meaty from the start, you know how blessed we are to still have him here with us.

Feeling very lucky to be surrounded by the people I love. Spent the weekend with farm animals, food, friends, my loves, shopping and bread making.❤️
Thank you for the emails, calls, texts, DMs and well wishes. 💚💚💚

June -
My baby turned FIFTEEN! How?! So many of you have been here since Reid was 2! It’s incredible to watch your child grow into a young person full of potential. Reid finished his last day of 8th grade. Even though he was in middle school the last three years, he still came to school with me daily. This will be a very hard transition for me next year without him as he’ll be in HIGH SCHOOL. Make it stop. 🥺

This was a long, hot month. We had school until forever. Field day, end of year parties, retirement parties, going away parties - lots of change. New roof at my school so I had to bring everything home- 0/10 do not recommend.

Thankful for my friends dragging me across the finish line.

I don’t think I’d make it through a weeks year so I’m trying a monthly round up of posts. Goodness I’m a homebody. 😆
My 11 books I’ve read from January.

Scott & I enjoying a date night dinner.

Trip to Florida to see Steph and Kayla.

Tattoos were done.

My braces were taken off.

I started my sourdough journey with Bready White, Doughey Tribbiani, and Doughlan McKay. It’s been such fun!

Reid has had a huge growth spurt and is quite a few inches taller.

I got a fun bookshelf started. It’s still in progress.

The boys are as needy as ever and enjoyed the extra snow days this month.

I’ve got a sourdough bread walk out dance. It brings me joy.

New Years Eve with Reid finally feeling well.

Are you team Velcro, sticky tack, or pocket? Or do you attach a different way? I’ve had a bunch of requests for these to go in my shop. Only the name would be editable. Would you interested? Let me know below. They’re made for legal size but print 8x11 (like seen here). I separate the alphabet purposely so lmnop are not together and alphabet song that is traditionally used is scrapped.

Just me?! Sigh. It feels like this summer was the fastest yet. When do you go back? I’m back in 2 weeks and I’m not ready. What’s been your favorite thing you’ve done this summer?

Hi yall. It’s been about a year since I’ve posted anything teaching related. I wanted to come back and start by sharing a few things with this incredibly grainy throwback picture.

This was taken right before I moved all of this into my first classroom in Pennsylvania.

During my last year of college and student teaching, I wanted to buy alllllll the things. (Pre instagram and ). My cooperating teacher for pre service and student teaching stopped me and said, you will never know what grade you’ll teach year to year. If you want to buy stuff buy storage and make it quality if you can. And whatever you do, DO NOT buy colorful, trendy stuff. Buy neutrals. They’ll go with everything and you won’t be worried chasing all the bin colors down or crying when one breaks and you can find the same shade. So that’s what I did. Every pay (I worked full time while in school), I’d buy a set of containers, or hit up yard sales for sterilite stuff.

After I started actually teaching, teacher gram convinced me I needed all the things. Colors, target dollar spot crap etc. so I did. Guess what? Almost all those seasonal and trendy things already broke and I hated them after a few short years. Know what I still have? Everything in this original picture.

I wish I had listened longer to my cooperating teacher because he was right. Quality and neutral colors stood the test of time.

Offer up, fb marketplace, yard sales and goodwill are incredible places to look for furniture and bins before buying full price in a store. Save your $. We do not make enough. I wish someone had told me that too. Lesson learned and tons of money spent.

What has been your best and worst purchase you’ve made for your room?

I’ll go first, this tower of drawers.

Great in theory, horrible in practice, ESPECIALLY w/ young. The drawers come off the track, the k***s fall off, and it needs tightened more than a first grader’s laces. 🙄 They just suck unless you only use them occasionally.

I should get stock in sterilite, because it lasts!
