A graduate student (DVM/PhD combined program), Aoi Nakanishi-Hester, has won the 2026 Gertrude B. Elion Mentored Medical Student Research Award from the Triangle Community Foundation. This 10,000 dollar, one-year grant will support her vital research into Alzheimer's disease.

Congratulations to Carolyn!!

Congratulations to Carolyn Mattingly, distinguished professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, on receiving NC State's Outstanding Research Award.🏆

Mattingly is the founder and director of the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, a globally used resource that helps researchers understand connections between chemicals, genes and diseases. In 2024 alone, the database was accessed by more than 2.5 million users. 🔬

Congratulations to Jonah Peckham, one of our Master’s students in Integrative Biology, on receiving a full scholarship to attend this year’s National Association for Interpretation conference. Jonah will present his research on zoo programming designed to foster empathy and strengthen conservation values among visitors.
