Give the rake a break🍂!

Consider giving your rake, and yourself, a break! Your to-do list just got shorter. Leaves and pine needles make an excellent mulch - they:

- insulate plant roots from cold weather
- return nutrients to the soil as they break down
- increase water holding capacity 💧
- decrease w**d growth
- provide shelter for beneficial insects (like ladybugs🐞!) to overwinter

Did you know that sweet treats, like candy, can increase your risk for developing cavities and gum disease? Keep those teeth looking fang-tastic this Halloween by implementing a healthy dental routine. Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste for two minutes, two times a day, and every day - especially after eating Halloween candy!

Don't forget to practice good teeth-brushing techniques this November 1 on National Brush Day! Visit Placer County’s Oral Health Program (placer.ca.gov/OralHealth) or Smile, California (smilecalifornia.org) for additional information and resources.
