Some nights feel especially hard. When your baby will not stop crying and exhaustion begins to take over, it is okay to pause. Place baby on their back in a clear, safe sleep space, step away for a few minutes, and give yourself time to breathe and regroup.

The Safe Sleep Academy offers practical, evidence-based guidance for understanding infant crying, soothing a fussy baby, and creating safer nighttime routines.

Ghosts, witches, superheroes, and other costumed children will be wandering along the roads tonight looking for candy and treats. Vehicular safety may not be their top concern, but it should be yours. It’s important that drivers remain vigilant and keep an eye out for children darting into the road, crossing parking lots, or strolling along the streets.

The scary reality is that Halloween has been one of the deadliest days of the year for pedestrians, especially children. Stop, wait for them to pass. Don’t look at your phone when you’re driving. Your attention needs to always be on the road.

Halloween is a fun night filled with candy and costumes — but it's also one of the most dangerous nights for pedestrians, especially children.

🚙 For drivers:
✔️ Be alert for trick-or-treaters and other pedestrians.
✔️ Slow down in residential areas.
✔️ Limit distractions and adhere to speed limits.
✔️ Allow extra time at stop signs, lights, and crosswalks. Always double check before moving.
✔️ Switch on your headlights early, around dusk.
✔️ NEVER drive under the influence. Plan a sober ride home.

🚶For trick-or-treaters and parents:
✔️ Have trick-or-treaters walk on the sidewalks, not in the street. If there are no sidewalks, walk along the edge of the road, facing traffic.
✔️ Use crosswalks or stop signs for crossing.
✔️ Always accompany young children door-to-door.
✔️ Use reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashlights to stay visible.

Pay attention, drive slow, and have a happy Halloween🧡

Noticed some kids carrying teal Halloween buckets or teal pumpkins outside of homes this Halloween?

Here's what they mean⬇️
Teal bucket = "I have a food allergy and can only have non-food treats."
Teal pumpkin = "We have non-food items for trick-or-treaters with food allergies."

In the US, one in 13 children has a food allergy — and many Halloween treats can cause life-threatening reactions for children with food allergies.

Non-food treats provide a safe alternative for children with food allergies. If you're able, have treat replacements available, like stickers, glow sticks, pencils, bubbles, or spider rings, for trick-or-treaters with teal buckets.

Halloween can be fun, inclusive, and positive for all with a simple act.🎃🩵
