đ„ ON THE ROAD UPDATE | STRIKE TEAM 9351C
They made it to Washingtonâbut there wasnât much time to unpack.
Upon entering the state, CAL FIRE Strike Team 9351C was immediately diverted to the Sinlahekin Fire in Okanogan County, where firefighters have been working alongside crews from across the region on one of Washingtonâs largest active wildfires.
The Sinlahekin Fire began July 26 at approximately 600 acres. Driven by challenging conditions, it rapidly expandedâreaching nearly 74,000 acres with no containment by August 2. Today, the fire has grown to more than 141,000 acres and is approximately 41â42% contained.
For the firefighters of ST9351C, each operational period has brought a different assignment and a different piece of the fire.
Crews have been supporting firing operations, constructing and strengthening black line, laying hose, mopping up, and assisting with structure protection where needed. Conditions have ranged from heavily smoky and overcast skies to periods of clear skies and sunshine.
Despite the changing assignments and conditions, reports from the crew remain positive: good progress and a good outlook.
Made up of engines from CAL FIRE San BernardinoâInyoâMono Unit (BDU) and CAL FIRE Riverside Unit (RRU) and led by Chief Manny Barriga, ST9351C traveled north prepared to provide initial attack support wherever they were needed. It didnât take long for that mission to begin.
From California to Washington, the work continues.
