Today we honor Juneteenth, the day recognizing the end of slavery in the United States and a major landmark for Black equality in this country. Also known as "Freedom Day", it recognizes the day that federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, where enslavement was still happening, and freed the remaining slaves two years after the emancipation proclamation was delivered. Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 with food, festivities, and church services. How will you be celebrating?

También conocido como "Día de la Libertad", reconoce el día en que las tropas federales llegaron a Galveston, Texas, donde todavía se estaba produciendo la esclavitud, y liberaron a los esclavos restantes dos años después de que se pronunció la proclama de emancipación. Pride is a jubilant communal celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity. This month we recognize the valuable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals across America, reaffirming our commitment to solidarity with LGBTQ+ Americans in their ongoing struggle with discrimination and injustice. 🏳️‍🌈 In honor of this, read this amazing article about including LGBTQ+ historical contributions into world studies lessons at STRIVE Prep - Sunnyside from last school year. https://www.9news.com/article/news/community/voices-of-change/lgbtq-history-filling-education-gaps/73-18bb9284-0e4d-483a-bca6-995183a5cc46
