Taneytown, we are so excited to introduce you to Bryan, our 2026 Torch Run, Athlete. 🎉

Lt. Castellar and Operations Specialist Engels got to meet Bryan and his mom, Nancy, last week over lunch. Bryan lives in Carroll County and has roots in Taneytown, so when given the choice, Bryan requested to ride with our agency to represent the Special Olympics Maryland. This program has given him opportunity, community and shown him what he’s capable of! He enjoys bike riding, swimming and snow shoeing. He’s a college graduate and proud Eagle Scout.

Please come out and show your support to Bryan during our 13 mile trek down route 140. 🚲 We hope to see you all line the streets again this year, cheering us on as we make our way through town.

We will be leaving memorial park at 9:30am on June 9th. We hope to see you again!

Earlier last week I was notified that I had won in the category of Best Government for the Carroll County Reader's Choice Awards. We had some tough competition!

First, I want to express a thank you to everyone for voting & that I do appreciate the honor. A leader is only as good as the team he puts forward and here at Taneytown, we've curated an amazing team. From the Taneytown Police Department, to Parks and Rec, to Department of Public Works, Our City Manager, the new council, my friends & family, to every employee currently in the City of Taneytown; I've gotten to work with a solid team of people to deliver results for the residents.

We're only just beginning. We've got a lot planned for 2026 &FY27 and beyond. We'll continue to push the bar for what representation means in the City of Taneytown & I'll continue to put my best forward to make sure results are being delivered for those here!

Thank you once again for your support & backing, looking forward to serving y'all each and every day!

Also want to give a big shoutout to all the Taneytown businesses that took home a win & honorable mentions! I'll have a separate post up, later in the week.

Today, I had the opportunity to attend one of my favorite events of the year as Mayor, the FSK graduation. While I know some of you from the store & I know some of you from my time as Mayor; It’s always a good day to see everyone walk across the stage, getting their diploma & looking forward to what lies ahead in this life.

The possibilities are endless and your futures are wide open to opportunities that we have here as Americans. Some of it will be challenging, but the rewards for the hard work that you put in, will make every path and adventure you take, worth it.

Whether you’re off to college, going straight into the work force or heading off to serve our nation; every person & every position helps move our nation forward & evey contribution is meaningful to the local communities. Some of you will stay in the area & some of you will go outside of our wonderful town to explore the world. Wherever your life leads, don’t forget where you’re from, the friends you made & the times you’ve had.

So thank you & congratulations to each and every one of you, as we know you’ll leave your mark on those whose paths you cross & our town looks forward to where your lives lead you! To those going off to basic, as someone who left 3 days after graduation, I wish you the best of luck! It’ll be challenging, but you’re going to make some life long friends & will build a work ethic few can relate to. You have not only a thankful nation behind you, but a community that’ll never forget you, so stay safe in your travels! To those heading off to college, learn as much as you can and soak up all the experiences that you can. We hope to see some of that local talent brought back home! To those that are heading straight into the workforce/finding your way in life, the world is full of opportunities. Never hesitate to take a chance.

As always, it was good to see everyone out today, and from the City of Taneytown, we wish you the best wherever life may take you!

Congratulations to the class of FSK 2026!

(Was joined by Rachael Miller for City Council, Taneytown, Joe Vigliotti, Carroll County Commissioner, District 1, Alex Kelly - Taneytown City Council)
