Today, I had the opportunity to attend one of my favorite events of the year as Mayor, the FSK graduation. While I know some of you from the store & I know some of you from my time as Mayor; It’s always a good day to see everyone walk across the stage, getting their diploma & looking forward to what lies ahead in this life.
The possibilities are endless and your futures are wide open to opportunities that we have here as Americans. Some of it will be challenging, but the rewards for the hard work that you put in, will make every path and adventure you take, worth it.
Whether you’re off to college, going straight into the work force or heading off to serve our nation; every person & every position helps move our nation forward & evey contribution is meaningful to the local communities. Some of you will stay in the area & some of you will go outside of our wonderful town to explore the world. Wherever your life leads, don’t forget where you’re from, the friends you made & the times you’ve had.
So thank you & congratulations to each and every one of you, as we know you’ll leave your mark on those whose paths you cross & our town looks forward to where your lives lead you! To those going off to basic, as someone who left 3 days after graduation, I wish you the best of luck! It’ll be challenging, but you’re going to make some life long friends & will build a work ethic few can relate to. You have not only a thankful nation behind you, but a community that’ll never forget you, so stay safe in your travels! To those heading off to college, learn as much as you can and soak up all the experiences that you can. We hope to see some of that local talent brought back home! To those that are heading straight into the workforce/finding your way in life, the world is full of opportunities. Never hesitate to take a chance.
As always, it was good to see everyone out today, and from the City of Taneytown, we wish you the best wherever life may take you!
Congratulations to the class of FSK 2026!
