We wanted to alert you to an important upcoming public meeting hosted by the SBA’s Interagency Task Force (IATF) on Veterans Small Business Development on Tuesday, July 15 from 1:00 – 3:00p.m. ET (10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. PT).
As many of you know, there is growing concern that veteran entrepreneurial services may be shifted away from the Veteran-focused Veterans Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs) and placed under the broader Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs).
This change would mean that programs like Boots to Business and veteran-specific advising could be managed by centers that may not be staffed by veterans or military family members, and that lack the cultural understanding, personal connection, and tailored support VBOCs are known for.
The IATF meeting is a rare opportunity for your voice to be heard directly by decision-makers at the SBA, Department of Defense, and other federal agencies. We encourage you to attend and, if you feel strongly, submit public comments (via email [email protected]) by July 14 to share how the VBOC has supported you and why veteran-specific services should remain in the hands of veteran-led organizations.
