Citizen Potawatomi Nation was recognized on October 21, 2026, as a winner of the 2026 Governor’s Disability Employment Awards of Excellence. CPN was nominated by South Central Industries, Inc. in Shawnee for the Community Partner Award, reflecting the Nation’s ongoing collaboration with South Central, advocacy for individuals with disabilities, and commitment to inclusion and dignity in employment opportunities.

FireLake Foods's Nicole Sanchez and CPN Purchasing Director Stacey Bennett were present at an awards ceremony at the Governor's Mansion.

The awards are presented annually by the Oklahoma Governor’s Office, the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation, the Oklahoma Human Services/Developmental Disabilities Services, the Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma Association of People Supporting Employment First to celebrate the contributions Oklahomans with disabilities make to the workplace every day.

Everyday banking should make it easier to manage your money, access the tools you need and feel confident about your finances, no matter where you live. For Citizen Potawatomi Nation members, Sovereign Bank Oklahoma’s CPN Member Checking Account was created with those needs in mind.

Available exclusively to CPN tribal members, the account combines everyday banking tools with benefits designed to provide greater flexibility, convenience and value. As a bank wholly owned by Citizen Potawatomi Nation, Sovereign Bank created the account as another way to serve the Nation and its citizens directly.

“Our connection to Citizen Potawatomi Nation is at the heart of who we are as a bank,” Sovereign Bank CEO Bryan Cain said. “The CPN Member Checking Account gives us another opportunity to serve Tribal members with banking tools that are practical, accessible and designed to support their financial goals.”

One of the account’s key benefits is the opportunity to earn interest while maintaining access to everyday funds. Members who keep a balance of at least $200 can earn interest on their money, and the account has no monthly maintenance fees.

Members can also earn uChoose Rewards on everyday purchases made with a registered Sovereign Bank debit card. These rewards add another benefit to purchases that members may already be making as part of their daily routines.

Convenience is also an important part of the account, especially for CPN citizens living across the country. Members do not need to live in Oklahoma or near a Sovereign Bank branch to take advantage of the account. With online and mobile banking, members can access their accounts 24/7, deposit checks from their smartphones and manage their money wherever they call home.

Additionally, the account also includes benefits such as ATM surcharge refunds at participating ATMs nationwide and Credit Sense, which gives members access to their credit score and tools to help them better understand and manage their credit.

For Sovereign Bank, the CPN Member Checking Account is another way to strengthen the connection between the bank, the Nation and its citizens.

“Our ownership by Citizen Potawatomi Nation gives us a unique connection to the people we serve,” Cain said. “We want CPN citizens to see Sovereign Bank as a financial resource they can turn to, wherever they live and wherever they are in their financial journey.”

Citizen Potawatomi Nation members interested in learning more about the CPN Member Checking Account can email [email protected] for additional information.

*Minimum balance of $200 required to earn interest. Interest rates are variable and subject to change. Registration is required to earn uChoose Rewards. Account approval is subject to Sovereign Bank’s account-opening policies and verification requirements. Not all applicants will qualify. Member FDIC. Equal Housing Lender.
