Elena's Children Park

Elena's Children Park Elena, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, three-year-old, who loved to pick flowers, united this community in a spirit of love.

Elena’s Children’s Park, was inspired by the life of Mary Elena Franklin, who was born September 4, 1993 and died tragically in an automobile accident on August 2, 1997. Neighbors and local leaders with a vision were joined by friends of the Franklin family and University Park residents to create a city park dedicated to all Park Cities families who have lost a child. More than 500 families, corpo

rations, and foundations contributed to the creation of this park, making it truly a community effort. The dream of this park would not have been realized without the leadership and cooperation of the University Park City Council, Parks Department and City staff. Elena’s Children’s Park has been created as a special place we can go to contemplate our love – and God’s love – for our children. It is a green space where we can celebrate their lives and reflect on our treasured memories. May all visitors to this park know that the goodness of our children does not perish but lives on eternally.
