🏃 Track repairs are scheduled to begin this week at Germany Park!

Approximately 100 feet of three lanes at the south end of the track will temporarily close to address settling that has created a potential trip hazard. The track will remain open and usable throughout the project, with users directed into the three open lanes around the work area.

Some parking spaces will also be temporarily unavailable while repairs are underway.

Repairs and curing are expected to continue through September and into October, weather permitting. Please respect all barricades and fencing around the work area.

Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements!

University Park City Council has called a Special Election for November 3, when voters will consider Proposition A, a proposed property tax rate of $0.220055 per $100 of assessed value. Under state law, voter approval is required because the proposed rate would increase the City’s property tax revenue by 3.5 percent or more over the previous year.

If approved, the additional revenue would fund:
🚓 Four additional police officers
🚒 Two additional firefighters
🔥 Enhanced public safety pension benefits
🅿️ Technology for residential parking districts

At last week’s City Council meeting, the City awarded not only one, but two separate Life Saving Awards!

Holmes Aquatic Center managers Mark Hancock and Simon Pierce, and lifeguards Loraina Watters, Zach Zelley and Charlie O’Neal were recognized for responding to a vehicle collision near the pool on August 1. After hearing the crash, they gathered first-aid equipment and immediately assisted the injured occupants until paramedics arrived.

University Park Police Officers Greg Young and Zakary Ravella were honored for their actions on May 1, when they provided CPR to an unconscious and unresponsive patient. The officers performed chest compressions for approximately eight minutes while paramedics administered an AED and prepared the patient for transport. Their efforts prolonged the patient’s life and gave his family meaningful additional time with him at the hospital.

We are so proud to recognize these officers and pool employees for stepping up during critical moments and providing lifesaving assistance to others! They truly exemplify a commitment to excellence! 👏🏻💚
