University Heights Commemorates 25th Anniversary of 9/11

Residents, firefighters and staff gathered on the City Hall’s front lawn this morning to remember the fallen, honor the first responders, recognize that the tragedy continues for those who have become sick and thousands who have died in the aftermath of that horrific day. “Like so many of us gathered here, I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first learned about the attacks on our country, on our soil,” said Mayor Michele Weiss.

Join Us in Honoring 9/11 Through Random Acts of Kindness! ❤️

Twenty-five years after the events of September 11, 2001, we continue to remember those who lost their lives and honor the courageous heroes whose compassion, sacrifice, and service helped restore faith in humanity.
In observance of the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11, UH invites residents of all ages to participate in our community-wide Pay It Forward Day on Friday, September 11, 2026.

🌟 The Challenge:
Perform three acts of kindness for people you don't know and help create a ripple effect of goodwill throughout our community.

Ideas to Get You Started

☕ Buy a coffee for a stranger
🥫 Donate food to a local shelter or food pantry
💙 Write thank-you notes to first responders
🌳 Organize or join a neighborhood litter cleanup

Keep the Kindness Going by encouraging the recipient to pay it forward by doing something kind for someone else.

Tips for Your Acts

👍Be random – Choose people you don’t know to maximize the ripple effect.
👍Be visible – Smile, say “thank you,” or leave a note to make the act memorable.
👍Use local resources – Partner with community groups, schools, or businesses for larger impact.

Pay It Forward 9/11 is a nonprofit movement that encourages people to do three random acts of kindness for strangers during the month of September to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks and the heroes who helped restore unity. Over the next six to ten weeks (from Early September until October), the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Office through our contractor Cyclomedia will update exterior photographs of properties and parcels throughout Cuyahoga County as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain current and accurate information. Residents may see contractor vehicles operating in neighborhoods and communities countywide as the project progresses. The vehicles will look like that in the photo.

Cyclomedia Technologies, Inc., the contractor working on behalf of Cuyahoga County, will operate vehicles with mounted cameras that will photograph property exteriors from public streets, and in very limited cases, driveways. All images containing identifiable faces or license plates will be blurred to protect privacy. This is similar to how Google Street View vehicles currently operate.

The images collected will help to document the overall condition of properties, streets and roads, and will become part of the official property record. The images will be used by the Fiscal Office to make the valuation process more efficient.

All Cyclomedia vehicles deployed to collect images for this initiative will be clearly marked with Cyclomedia logos. In addition, contractors working in the field will carry photo identification along with a letter of authorization from Cuyahoga County.
