This past weekend, we had the honor of welcoming back one of our own to the firehouse.

On March 21, 2026—exactly 50 years to the day—Jim K. returned to the University Heights Fire Department to mark the anniversary of his very first day on the job. Fittingly, it even fell on the same day of the week as it did in 1976.

Jim spent the morning at the station sharing stories, reconnecting with current members, off-duty personnel, and fellow retirees, and reflecting on a career that helped shape our department and service to the community.

Moments like this are a powerful reminder that the fire service is more than a profession—it’s a lifelong brotherhood and family. We are grateful for Jim’s service and proud to carry forward the legacy built by those who came before us.

Thank you for stopping by, Jim. You will always have a seat at our table. 🚒

Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week

This week is Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week, and recent weather has been a reminder of how quickly conditions can change. Spring brings an increased risk for severe storms, high winds, flooding, and tornadoes across our region.

Take a few minutes this week to review your emergency plan, identify a safe shelter location in your home, and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

Preparedness today helps keep you and your family safe when severe weather strikes.
