When you see this sign flashing, the speed limit is 20 mph. That means the MAXIMUM permitted speed is 20 mph. 21 mph is too fast.

Citations for speeding in a school zone START at $222 and get more expensive the fast you drive.

As many people ask for a warning when they are stopped for a traffic violation, we are going to get out ahead of this now and for everyone: Consider this to be your warning. Saving a couple seconds on your commute is not worth endangering children going to school.

As classes are just getting started, we want to welcome all of the new and returning students to John Carroll University.

Whether you are in University Heights for a couple semesters or a couple decades, we are happy to have you be a part of our community.

We ask that you please be mindful of your neighbors.
Noise travels farther than you might realize.
Use the sidewalks.
People work hard to make their yards look nice.
Pedestrians do not always have the right of way. Use a crosswalk.
If something isn't yours, don't take it.
Treat others how you want to be treated.
Be nice to people. It's just easier that way.

Have some friends over to talk about your summer escapades.
For those of you of proper age, sit outside and enjoy the company of your classmates while enjoying a drink if you choose to.
We just ask that you act responsibly.

Had something to drink? Plan ahead. Designate a driver. Call an Uber or Lyft. Walk home.
If we have to be your designated driver, you might not like your destination.

We work closely with the John Carroll University Police Department to keep our community safe. If you have any safety concerns on campus, JCUPD can be reached at (216) 397-1234. If you have any safety concerns anywhere in University Heights we encourage you to call us at (216) 932-1800. Of course 911 is always the best choice in an emergency.

Please feel free to come to us with any safety concerns or suggestions. Have questions about noise, parking, or other city ordinances? Feel free to reach out to us.

We would much rather prevent a problem than respond to one after it occurs.

We have purchased new radar speed signs that have been placed around the city. The signs are a good way to make sure you and everyone around you are aware of how fast you are driving on residential streets. They do not take pictures of cars and no citations are issued based on the signs.

Currently the speed signs are on Groveland Rd, Meadowbrook Blvd, and Saybrook Rd.

Feel free to leave us a comment if you want to suggest where the signs should go next.
