It Takes a Team to Protect a Child
When a child may have experienced abuse, they shouldn't have to navigate the aftermath alone. That’s why the Crime Victims’ Center of Fayette County (CVC) partners closely with our local Child Advocacy Center (CAC) to provide a coordinated, child-centered response.
The CAC brings together specially trained professionals to help children share their experiences in a safe and supportive environment, including through forensic interviews when appropriate.
CVC supports children and families throughout the process by providing trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, crisis support, and connections to additional resources.
Our agencies work together with other members of the multidisciplinary team—including child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, medical professionals, and other partners—to help ensure that the child's safety and well-being remain at the center of the response.
Why collaboration matters:
• Children can receive support from multiple professionals without having to navigate each system alone.
• Specialized professionals can communicate and coordinate their efforts.
• Children are given a safe, developmentally appropriate opportunity to share their experiences.
• Families receive advocacy, guidance, and support throughout a difficult process.
• The goal is always to minimize additional trauma while ensuring children receive the protection and services they need.
At CVC, we believe every child deserves to be heard, supported, and protected.
When we work together, we can help make a difficult experience a little less overwhelming—and remind children and families that they are not alone.
