25 years later, we still remember. 🇺🇸

This morning, Canton Fire held their 9/11 Stair Climb at the McKinley Monument to honor the firefighters and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We’re proud to have Kaiya Vasquez representing the Uniontown Fire Department as we honor their memory.

For the past 3 days we have had the opportunity to train in the Ohio Fire academy’s fire simulator trailer. Training was held at Hartville Fire Department. Firefighters were able to train on hose advancements and nozzle exercises. The trailer simulates a kitchen fire, couch fire and basement fire. This was a valuable training for all who participated. Thank you to Hartville Fire Department for the invitation and thank you to the Ohio Fire Academy for providing this excellent training opportunity.

Our department put in some solid training time this week, focusing on search and rescue techniques and advancing charged hose lines. Several of our part-time firefighters — who work full-time at larger, busier departments — brought their experience to the training, sharing tips and techniques they use every day on the job.

It’s this kind of knowledge-sharing that makes our department stronger. Great work by everyone who participated, and thank you to our all our staff for bringing their skills to help train the next generation of firefighters.

The parade at 17:00 has been canceled due to weather. The festival is tentatively planning to start at 18:00, and the status of fireworks will be decided later this evening.

Great training day for our newest firefighters! 🔥

Yesterday, our new firefighters got hands-on with two critical skills: interior search and VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search). Training took place in a vacant house, giving our crews a realistic environment to practice the techniques that save lives when seconds count.

Interior search teaches firefighters how to systematically and safely move through a smoke-filled structure to locate victims, even in zero visibility. VEIS takes that a step further — allowing firefighters to enter through a window, isolate the room by closing the door, and search that specific area before the rest of the structure is accessed. This tactic can mean the difference between life and death when a victim is trapped in a room that fire or smoke hasn’t fully reached yet.
