Tick-related illnesses are rapidly rising in Ohio. Lyme disease cases skyrocketed from just 415 statewide in 2020 to 2,800 last year. And Lyme disease isn’t the only tick-related ailment you should be concerned about. The lone star tick, infamous for causing alpha-gal syndrome – a potentially life-threatening red meat allergy – has made its way to Ohio. Here’s what to watch for and how to protect yourself: https://aultman.org/blog/caring-for-you/watch-out-for-tick-related-illnesses

This week is National EMS Week — a time to recognize the people who answer the call on someone’s worst day.
From medical emergencies and accidents to quiet moments helping a neighbor through a difficult time, EMS is more than lights and sirens. It’s compassion, teamwork, training, and showing up when it matters most.

We’re proud to serve the Greentown community alongside so many dedicated first responders, dispatchers, nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals who work together every day to care for others. ❤️🚑

Thank you to everyone who supports EMS in our community.

Tackling some spring cleaning or painting this weekend?

Oil-soaked rags can start a fire if not handled safely. As oil-based paints and stains dry, they give off heat. If rags are piled up or put in a closed container, that heat can build up and start a fire.

Stay safe:
• Lay rags flat to dry outside, away from anything that can burn
• Or place them in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid

🚨⚠️ Carbon Monoxide Safety Reminder ⚠️🚨
Carbon monoxide (CO) is known as the “silent killer” — you can’t see it, smell it, or taste it. CO poisoning can happen quickly and become deadly before you even realize there’s a problem.

🏠 Help keep your family safe:
✅ Install CO detectors on every level of your home
✅ Test alarms monthly & replace batteries regularly
✅ Never run generators inside garages or near windows/doors
✅ Do not use ovens or grills to heat your home
✅ Have heating systems and fireplaces inspected yearly
✅ If your CO alarm sounds — GET OUT and call 911

⚠️ Symptoms of CO poisoning may include:
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Confusion
• Fatigue

If multiple people in the home suddenly feel sick, get outside immediately.

Stay safe, Greentown! ❤️🚒
