SEPSA Fire Authority

Today, our crews responded to a shed fire and, while entering the driveway, accidentally struck a basketball hoop. While no one wants something like this to happen, the reality is that firefighters are human and mistakes can occur, even while responding to emergencies.

What makes me proud today is not the mistake itself, but how our crews responded afterward. Without hesitation, they stepped up and offered to replace the hoop. As I write this, members are out there assembling a brand-new basketball hoop so that a local child doesnโ€™t have to go without one.

At SEPSA Fire Authority, we believe accountability matters. When something happens, we take ownership, work to make it right, and continue serving our community with integrity. Thatโ€™s exactly what our firefighters demonstrated today.

I couldnโ€™t be more proud of the professionalism, character, and compassion shown by our crews. Thank you for always doing your best to serve our residents, both during emergencies and afterward.

๐Ÿš’ Driver Training & Apparatus Certification ๐Ÿš’

This past Tuesday, SEPSA Fire Authority members completed our annual apparatus driving course. This training provides both new and experienced personnel the opportunity to demonstrate safe vehicle operations and maintain proficiency behind the wheel of emergency apparatus.

For our newer members, the course allowed them to finalize their driver certifications, while current operators refreshed and validated their skills. Each member was required to successfully complete the course with every apparatus they are authorized to drive, ensuring familiarity with the unique handling characteristics and operational requirements of each vehicle.

Operating emergency vehicles safely is one of the most important responsibilities in the fire service. Regular training helps ensure our crews can respond quickly, safely, and effectively when our communities need us most.

We appreciate the dedication of our members who continue to train and improve their skills year after year.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Grilling season is here! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As you fire up the grill this summer, take a few extra moments to practice safe grilling habits and help prevent fires and injuries.

โœ… Keep grills at least 10 feet away from homes, decks, and anything combustibleโœ… Never leave a grill unattended while cookingโœ… Inspect propane tanks, hoses, and connections before useโœ… Keep a fire extinguisher or garden hose nearbyโœ… Always grill outdoors in a well-ventilated area

A little preparation today can prevent a major emergency tomorrow. Stay safe and enjoy your summer from all of us at Southeast Public Safety Authority! ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŒญโ˜€๏ธ

Monday, Assistant Chief Sullivan and Captain Sullivan attended the Cass County Firefighters Training Committee Firefighter I & II graduation.

We would like to congratulate both Mitch Craigo and James Rupright for successfully completing their state fire course and becoming the newest firefighters on our department!

This achievement takes countless hours of classroom work, hands-on training, dedication, and perseverance. We are proud of the hard work both of these individuals have put in and look forward to watching them continue to grow within the fire service. Congratulations and welcome aboard! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

This past week, SEPSA Fire Authority crews spent time training on wildland and brush fire operations. Personnel reviewed wildfire behavior, tactics, and safety considerations before moving outside for hands-on brush truck operations with both of our brush rigs.

Training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared for the increasing number of grass, field, and woodland fires we see throughout our area each year. Staying proficient with equipment and tactics allows us to respond quickly, safely, and effectively when these incidents occur.

Great job by all personnel who participated in the training! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

As we head into the holiday weekend, SEPSA Fire Authority wants to remind everyone to make boating safety a priority.

Before hitting the water, make sure your boat is equipped with properly fitting life jackets for everyone onboard, a fully stocked trauma or first aid kit, and a charged, working fire extinguisher. These simple safety items can make a major difference when seconds count.

Never operate a boat under the influence, stay aware of your surroundings, and keep an eye on changing lake and weather conditions. Emergencies can happen fast, but preparation saves lives.

Our crews want everyone to enjoy the weekend and return home safely with family and friends.

Stay safe. Stay prepared. Enjoy the water responsibly

Big things are happening at SEPSA Fire Authority!

These two new chassis are for our current ambulances and will soon be heading out one by one to have the existing ambulance boxes remounted onto the new trucks. This investment helps ensure we can continue providing reliable, high-quality emergency medical services to the communities we serve every day.

The first ambulance is scheduled to go in for remount this June, with the second to follow after completion.

We would like to give a huge thank you to Chief Holdeman and the Fire Board for their continued support and commitment to keeping our crews equipped with dependable apparatus to serve our residents and visitors safely and efficiently. ๐Ÿš‘
