Nestled in the east central portion of Missouri, Franklin County provides a unique environment for the style of living that anyone desires. Louis metropolitan area that provides both rural and urban living opportunities for approximately 100,000 residents. n County also welcomes many visitors during the mild weather months for a variety of attractions. The Robertsville State Park and Meramec State Park, among many private recreational businesses, provide opportunities to camp, fish, and float along the scenic Meramec River. Communities in Franklin County also offer a great deal of tourist possibilities for events such as fairs, festivals, and entertainment. Deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office provide all the law enforcement services necessary to meet the needs of its residents and the demands to apprehend criminals and deter crime as the means of committing crime evolves. There are approximately 168 personnel, including deputies, reserve deputies, and support staff that diligently strive to insure the Mission Statement of the Office is achieved. A minimum of 600 hours of specialized law enforcement training is required of all deputies employed by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff, Under Sheriff, and two Captains are graduates of the FBI National Academy located in Quantico, VA. Additionally, many deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are certified instructors and teach all aspects of law enforcement with the Missouri Sheriff’s Training Academy hosted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Other deputies are adjunct professors in Criminal Justice programs with area colleges and universities, along with being guest lecturers at a variety of law enforcement conferences.

Recently, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office was notified by two citizens of attempted scams from someone posing as "Captain Adam Albert from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office." On 9/3/26 a citizen called the main business line of the Sheriff's Office asking to speak to Captain Albert. Upon contact, the citizen reported they received a call from (636) 396-0998 and the Caller ID showed this was an "unknown" caller. The citizen received three calls in total from this number and messages from a person claiming to be Captain Albert regarding "legal issues." The Sheriff's Office attempted to contact someone at the number provided by the citizen, but received no answer; just a voicemail message identifying it as the "Franklin County Sheriff's Office Civil Division non-business line." By 9/4/26, that number was disconnected.

On 9/4/26 another citizen contacted the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and reported a similar call. This time, no Caller ID information or number was provided. The voicemail just identified the caller as "Captain Adam Albert of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office."

We want to remind citizens that these scams exist. Many times, scammers will use tactics to scare people into paying a "fine" over the phone to avoid arrest or a "bond" for someone they know. Police agencies in general do not operate this way. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office will not request payment for fines, bonds, or fees over the phone. Do not give out your personal identifying information, banking information, or credit card information.

Should you receive a call like this, please call the Franklin County Sheriff's Office business line at (636) 583-2560 to verify the authenticity of the caller for yourself, or if you are the victim of fraud, to make a report.

On August 30, 2026, at approximately 0249 hours, deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 500 block of Puetz Lane in Gray Summit in reference to a peace disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies heard a female victim yelling from inside a bedroom that she was unable to exit the room and needed help. Deputies located multiple items including a motorized handicap chair, a large kitchen table, and a shelving unit stacked against her bedroom door preventing her from exiting. The victim stated that the suspect had been beating on her door and breaking things inside the residence prior to barricading her door. The victim stated she felt trapped and was physically unable to climb out the window or move the items without assistance to escape her bedroom. Deputies searched the house and located the suspect under a bed inside the home. The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident. Charges were applied for with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and a warrant was issued, charging Gage M. Thacker, a 22-year-old male from Gray Summit, with Kidnapping 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Harassment 2nd Degree. His bond was set at $5000.00 cash only.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 8-27-2026, deputies were dispatched to the area of River Otter Way outside of St. Clair, MO, in reference to several river cabins being burglarized. During their investigation, deputies were able to identify Jacob Lashley as a suspect. The Sheriff's Office and deputies were familiar with Mr. Lashley and had been looking for him for several months due to his active warrants and him being wanted for questioning in other incidents. Deputies were told Mr. Lashley was on a blue inflatable kayak and that he was last seen floating past the Meramec River Bridge off Mill Hill Road.

At approximately 18:30 hours, deputies spotted Mr. Lashley on a sand bar in the middle of the Meramec River approximately 300 yards upstream from their location. One of the victims gave two of the deputies a ride in his jet boat to the sand bar. While searching the sand bar, Mr. Lashley attempted to elude law enforcement by swimming across the river. The deputies gave chase, entering the river, and were able to apprehend Mr. Lashley in the river without incident. Jacob S. Lashley, a 35-year-old male from Catawissa was arrested on outstanding warrants and additional charges were applied for with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A warrant was issued by the Prosecuting Attorney's Office charging Mr. Lashley with 3 counts of burglary, 1 count of resisting arrest, and 1 count of possession of an illegal weapon. His bond was set at $50,000.00 cash only . All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
