While visiting some of Missouri's northern border counties, I took the opportunity to catch up with Iowa's Democratic State Auditor and candidate for Governor Rob Sand for Iowa. On the road with me is former Republican candidate for State Auditor Gerald “Jerry” Wistrand Jr., who endorsed me over the incumbent after the primary. Missouri needs an auditor that can go after corruption and hold those in Jefferson City accountable.

To our fellow neighbors and community members,

As we approach the upcoming elections, it is no secret that Missouri Democrats are operating as the underdogs in Franklin County. We do not have the massive corporate backing or the endless resources of our opponents. Anything you see coming from the Franklin County Democrats is paid for by small dollar donations from people just like you.

In the next few weeks, your mailboxes and television screens will be filled with slick flyers, attack ads, and heavily funded commercials. These out-of-state interest groups and political action committees want to divide our community and drown out local voices with expensive, polished media.

BEING THE UNDERDOG DOES NOT MEAN WE ARE DEFEATED—it means we have to rely on what matters most: neighbors talking to neighbors. They have the money, but we have the people. Let’s stay focused on the real issues affecting our county, look past the glossy negative ads, and work together to build a community that works for everyone.

A BIG WIN FOR MISSOURI VOTERS — ON BOTH ISSUES!!

Today, the Missouri Supreme Court ruled in favor of voters in both major ballot-access cases heard this week.

On the congressional map referendum:
The Court ruled that Missouri voters have the constitutional right to vote on the legislature’s new congressional map. The referendum petition was legal, sufficient and timely, and the new HB 1 map never took effect. Missouri will use the 2022 congressional districts for the November 2026 election. HB 1 will not take effect unless voters approve it in November, and if approved, it would take effect afterward.

On the initiative petition protecting Missouri’s citizen initiative process:
The Court ruled that the petition must also be placed on the November ballot. It rejected the claims that the proposal violated Missouri’s single-article or single-subject requirements and ordered the Secretary of State to use the original ballot title certified in September 2025.
In both cases, the Court reversed the lower court and ordered the measures onto the November 2026 ballot.

Two cases. Two unanimous decisions. And on both, Missouri voters get the final say.

That is a win for the people — and for the principle that the power of initiative and referendum belongs to Missouri citizens.

Missouri House candidate Thomas Ross is accused of plotting to plant co***ne and Adderall on his Republican primary opponent. He now faces a conspiracy charge.
