A Really, Really Late Post!

Back in April, our 911 dispatchers participated in Mayday training focused on firefighter emergencies and what to do when a Mayday is called.
We are very thankful for the great networking and partnerships we have with other agencies. Through those connections, we were able to have Carlton Carter, Operations Manager with York County 911 Public Safety, come out and provide valuable training, not only to our dispatchers, but also to our Fire Chiefs Association. Carlton was also joined by his service dog, Captain, who was a welcome addition to the training!
This training encouraged our departments to come together and work toward developing a Mayday system.
A huge thank you to Carlton for coming out, sharing your valuable knowledge, and helping us become better prepared to support our firefighters when they need us most.
We would also like to thank our Union County Emergency Management, Director Lee Brannon, for providing a wonderful meal from Dean Gregory for everyone attending the training. We truly appreciate your support and generosity!

Last month, our dispatchers participated in valuable training focused on CPR, mapping, NCIC and getting back to the basics of 911 dispatching.
Our dispatchers received hands-on CPR training and are now certified through the American Red Cross. A special thank-you goes to Paramedic Supervisor Mark Wade and EMT Veronica Grant with Union County EMS for providing us with this great refresher course.
GIS Coordinator Linda Mitchell provided a valuable refresher on the fundamentals of mapping, including how to read a MapBook and build appropriate responses using ESNs.
Assistant Director Christian Sims wrapped up the training by going over the basics of 911 dispatching, including core functions and NCIC procedures. It was a great refresher on the important skills dispatchers use every day.
