This past week we celebrated the 10th graduating class πŸŽ“ of the Raymond J. Lesniak Experience, Strength, and Hope Recovery High School! πŸ’œ

Senator Lesniak gave the opening remarks at the graduation and spoke about what makes this graduation and experience different from a district school. Recovery schools provide a safe, supportive, and sober environment that combines the β€œcommon core” aligned education with substance use disorder recovery.

After Senator Lesniak gave the class of 2026 his words of wisdom, some of the graduates shared their personal journey's with recovery and how attending a recovery school set them up for successβ€”with their future pathway's dedicated to higher education at a college, trade school, or apprenticeship program πŸ™Œ

Congratulations class of 2026 πŸŽ“πŸŽ‰

Even after his retirement from the Senate, Senator Lesniak continues to fight for and champion criminal justice and reentry causes. Today, he gave the opening remarks at the 2026 Reentry Symposium: From Release to Realityβ€”held at Kean University in partnership with the Urban League of Union County and the Union County Reentry Task Force.

He spoke about:
βœ… What led him to champion the reentry program: Earn Your Way Out
βœ… Reaffirmed his belief that "Everyone deserves a second chance"
βœ… How he is continuing to implement and expand EYWO for inmates

This is just the beginning of his journey to make reentry practices more accessible throughout New Jersey. As Senator Lesniak says, "My work is not done yet!"
