The Chamber takes great pride in this event -- and we invite you to join us as a sponsor or runner. You don't have to compete as a runner, but simply walk at your own pace, too. (Last year, we had runners/walkers ranging from one-year-olds in strollers to a 94-year-old resident!)
Now in its 15th year, the 5K is organized by the Greater Union Chamber, and all funds are received and dispersed by the Chamber and no one else.
A short history: prior to 2011, the Chamber held an annual Golf Outing, dating back to the early 1980's. It was called the Mayor's Day Golf Outing to highlight the fact that this was a collaborative event supported by both the business community and residents. In 2011, the Chamber discontinued the Golf Outing in favor of a more inclusive, community-wide and family event - the 5K. We continued the tradition and called it the Greater Union Chamber/Mayor's Day 5K.
Thanks to so many of you who have expressed your support for our work again this year.
