Tonight members worked on pumping operations such as pulling a draft from a dump tank to refilling a truck.

Pulling a draft is a crucial skill to have in rural firefighting. Hydrate’s aren’t always available in rural areas so we resort to pulling water from a pond or ditch to fill tankers to shuttle water to the scene of a fire.

Dump tanks are utilized on fire scenes so tankers can offload the water and return to the fill sight. This allows tankers to constantly stay on the move so there’s never a shortage of water. It’s better to have tankers waiting to dump rather than waiting on tankers to return.

Exciting news hopefully everybody is ready for another wonderful pancake breakfast. We have moved our breakfast up three weeks this year to hope for a little bit better weather our breakfast will be. October 11 this year hope to see everybody there.

Nothing says “it’s the start of meteorological fall” like more hot weather, stay safe.

🥵 Summer heat is BACK! We say its Meteorological Fall, Indiana says "hold my beer!" Widespread heat indices of 100-106°F expected today and tomorrow. One saving grace would be cloud cover from remnant storms to our North in Michigan if they persist into Northern Indiana.
