The Union City Prevention Coalition (hereafter referred to as the Coalition) is a well-established, community-based, youth substance use prevention coalition that is capable of effecting community-level change. The Coalition was established via the passage of a municipal resolution by the Union City Board of Commissioners in 1990, as the direct result of New Jersey legislation enacted in 1989 to a
ddress the sharp increase of the number of alcohol and drug-related crime across the State of New Jersey. The initial vision of the Coalition was for Union City to develop into a healthy, vibrant community free of the misuse and abuse of alcohol, to***co and other drugs. Its current mission is to plan and implement strategies to prevent and reduce youth substance use and its related consequences within the City of Union City.
