When purchasing a titled vehicle from an individual, be sure the sellers name is on the front of the title as the Owner.
If the sellers name is not on the front of the title, they cannot sell it to you.

We have recently received some questions from customers that have purchased vehicles from dealerships so we wanted to try to clear up some confusion.

When you purchase a vehicle from a dealership you will receive an ownership document (title) from them (they have 60 days). The title they give you will have either the dealer name or the previous owners name printed on the front of the title. The back of the title will be assigned to you by the dealer. That title and other paperwork needs to be brought to our office, whether you have a lien (borrowed money from a financial institution) or not. This is necessary so you can get the ownership transferred to your name and get a registration/license plate.
After your title and registration transaction is processed in our office a new title record is created in the computer system.

If you do have a lien, the title will be held electronically until a lien release from the lienholder is received by the State or our office. The lien release will be processed and a title will be printed in Topeka and mailed to you.

If you do not have a lien, the title will be printed and mailed to you. This can sometimes take up to 6 weeks as the State is required to wait 35 days from the date of purchase.

Please call the office if you have any questions. 620-356-1551

The dates for the 2026 Grant County Fair will be July 18th - 25th. We were working on a theme of 'Christmas in July', however, Santa decided we should celebrate America's 25th Birthday, so he has taken a rain check and will be back in 2027! So, to honor his request, the new theme will be "Celebrate America's 250th Birthday at the 78th Annual Grant County Fair'.

Payment may be made in person, mail, drop box, or online. We do accept postmark date.
