J & M Mentoring The relationship we have with the youth we serve is what makes a difference. We understand how important it is to have healthy positive relationships.

We focus on 4 Key Areas Attachment, Achievement, Altruism, Personal Autonomy. J and M Mentoring was founded in April of 2019 and is based out of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. One day the world will be interconnected on an emotional level. We will see someone struggling and we will take action! Our vision is that in the future people taking positive action will be the rule. One will see a hungry man and

he will be taught how to get his own food and he will have the self worth to take action. One day everyone will feel valued, appreciated, and needed. One day day everyone will be able to give and receive love as freely as they want to. One day the greatest strength will be vulnerability, for us to look at others and say, ” I need help please teach me…” One day love if neighbor will be seen for what it is, the greatest wealth. At J and M mentoring we understand that people face challenges. We use the relationships we build to help identify the strengths that young people and their families have. We then take a holistic approach to increase the resilience for everyone involved.

- As a trauma aware team we understand that behaviors are a consequence. We believe that resilience can and should be taught, because when it is anyone can thrive!

- More than other services we focus on helping young people see their strengths. We then teach those involved how to further develop those strengths.

- We have seen that attachment, achievement, personal autonomy, and altruism lead to ambition.

- Over 90% of the youth we serve have shown improved attendance at school, improved communication within the family and community. In addition, we have eliminated recidivism! We seek to continuously extend our impact by helping as many families as possible along the way. We have served communities throughout Ohio and into West Virginia.

A Tale of Two Paths

J & M mentoring was founded by Jordan Bowling and Matthew Stevens. Both Jordan and Matthew have distinct backgrounds that offer a unique perspective on how to help the at risk youth of our community. Jordan a life long resident of Tuscarawas County has insight into what it’s like growing up in the county and the specific challenges each of our youth face on a daily basis. Matthew has been working with at risk youth for over 15 years, his experience stretches over several states and has enabled him to support youth through many stages of development.

While these men have two very different paths, the one thing they have in common is their desire and passion for helping the youth of counties throughout Ohio. Both these men currently work at the Tuscarawas Juvenile Attention Center, giving them the insight into how to help the youth of this county.
