The second-annual Matt Flynn Red Raiders Football Camp will kickoff in less than 24 hours. The event team behind the camp will be busy tomorrow morning making sure the campers stay hydrated and the parents who stick around have some shade to watch drills! Registration starts at 8 AM!

3 days until the Matt Flynn Red Raiders Football Camp. As a reminder, ALL CAMPERS will break at 11:30 AM for lunch in the REL Fieldhouse. The younger group (grades 3-4) will be ready for pickup at Noon and the older group (grades 5-8) will return to the field after lunch and classroom instruction for a second practice, until 3 PM.

We're 5 days away from the start of the second-annual Matt Flynn Red Raiders Football Camp. Youth grades 3-4 will participate from 9-Noon and campers entering grades 5-8 will participate from 9 AM-3 PM, with lunch provided by the camp. Cost of the camp is $40 for ½ day campers (grades 3-4) and $85 for full-day campers (grades 5-8). All registrations for campers will be made on-site starting at 8 AM. Note: We will have 2 hydration stations set up on each side of the field for campers!

Happy No. 27 (Birthday) to Matt Flynn ... a few hours late! How tough is he? At Robert E. Lee HS, Flynn played the last four games of his senior season with a broken foot. For the season he completed 124 of 206 passes for 1,679 yards and 9 TDs and on the ground he ran for 305 yards and 12 TDs.

Tyler, TX – One of the biggest names among quarterbacks in the National Football League will be showcasing his athletic skills to the city’s youth, when the second-annual Matt Flynn Tyler Red Raider Football Camp returns to Robert E. Lee High School on Saturday, June 30

The Matt Flynn Tyler Red Raider Football Camp is open to youth entering grades 3-8 during the upcoming academic year. Youth grades 3-4 will participate from 9-Noon and campers entering grades 5-8 will participate from 9 AM-3 PM, with lunch provided by the camp.

Flynn, who made headlines last month by signing a three-year, $26 million free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks, is a 2003 graduate of Robert E. Lee HS. Flynn led LSU to the BCS national championship in 2007 and played four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, including their Super Bowl championship two years ago. Flynn’s best performance in Green Bay was his last, throwing for 480 yards and six TDs in a victory over Detroit in last season’s finale.

The camp is organized by the Tyler Red Raiders Youth Football Association. Andy Bergfeld, the organization’s president, is a graduate of Robert E. Lee HS and earned an athletic scholarship at SMU, where he graduated from in 1993. He was also Flynn’s 7-on-7 coach in high school and is proud to have Flynn back in town.

“Matt’s story is one of hard work and determination -- much the same as we are trying to teach our youth football players,” Bergfeld said. “Matt has stayed humble and never got caught up in flashy allure of big-time football. He is exactly the kind of role model we need for our young men in this community.”

Instructors at the Matt Flynn Tyler Red Raider Football Camp will be REL head football coach/athletic coordinator Darrell Piske and several members of his coaching staff.

Best Wishes to Matt in his travels during the NFL's free agent period this spring ...

The Seahawks don't seem to be getting anywhere with recently released Peyton Manning. Maybe they'll have better luck with defensive end Mario Williams and quarterback Matt Flynn when free agency opens Tuesday.
