The Tyler Police Department’s Facebook fan page was created by the department to facilitate the exchange of information with the public at large. To promote such exchange the department encourages and welcomes postings

and comments from the general public about issues related to law enforcement in Tyler. With that said, however, the police department reserves the right to regulate the content of, and where necessary delete completely, any objectionable entry that appears on its fan page. The Tyler Police Department is responsible for monitoring all postings to its page and may take appropriate action whenever necessary, and at its sole discretion, to protect other fan page visitors from inappropriate or otherwise harmful information and links. To that end, the Tyler Police Department will remove as soon as feasible any posting that involves:

This case is still under investigation. If you have any information on anybody that may be involved in this case, you may contact the following;

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $4,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this individual. If you have any information concerning this investigation, please call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. You can also submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Tyler-Smith County Crimestoppers has featured this case as their Crime of the Week. They are now offering up to $2,000 until June 5th, tips can be submitted 100% anonymously to Tyler-Smith County Crime Stoppers by calling 903-597-CUFF (2833), through the P3 Tips app (available on Android and Apple), or online at CUFF903.org. Tyler Police Investigate Shooting

On May 29th at approximately 10:45pm, Tyler Police Officers responded to a shooting at the apartment complex located at 2700 N. Grand Ave. Upon arrival officers discovered a 5-year-old child was shot. The child was taken to a local hospital, flown to Dallas and is in critical condition.

Multiple shell casings were located but no other people were injured. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous.

You are invited to attend the 2026 Peace Officer's Memorial on Wednesday, May 20th at 12pm. The ceremony will be held inside First Baptist Church of Tyler due to the possibility of rain, located at 301 W. Ferguson.

We will honor all of the Texas peace officers (local, county, state and federal) that gave their lives in the line of duty in the last year. Then we will honor those who have gave their lives in Smith County. It is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice made by those who swore to protect and serve. We hope to see you there.

It is National Police Week and today is National Peace Officer Memorial Day, where we remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor their commitment to protect and serve the citizens of Tyler.

Today we remember Malcolm Buie, Burl Whittington, Milus Nichol and Eugene Vickers, all Tyler PD Officers who have been killed in the line of duty. On Wednesday, May 20th at Noon here at Tyler PD, we will honor the local, state and federal officers who gave their lives in service in the past year.

From all of us at the Tyler Police Department, we thank you officers, for your service in Texas and across the Nation.
