Tybee Island Ocean Rescue TIFR Ocean Rescue is on the beach May-October each year, only during daylight hours. Please call 911 in any emergency!

Happy Labor Day from Tybee Island Ocean Rescue! Enjoy the beach, stay safe, and know we’re here if you need us!

⚡️ Lightning is currently in the area. Lifeguards will remain off the beach until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike detected within 12 miles. We recommend using a lightning-tracking app to stay informed and safe!

As our lifeguards head back to school, you will begin to see fewer staffed towers. After this weekend, our crew will be much smaller, but we are still out here patrolling! Visit the Safe Beach Day website to see which locations are staffed each day.

Lifeguards have cleared the water for lightning detected within 12 miles, in accordance with our safety protocols.

⚠️ It is not safe to swim at this time. Please stay out of the water for your safety and the safety of our lifeguards.

Lifeguards will remain off the beach until 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike is detected within 12 miles.

⚡️ We recommend downloading a lightning tracker app to help monitor conditions and stay safe, especially when lifeguards are not stationed in your area.
