When Life magazine published its "Dream House" issue in September 1938, the Blackbourn family was considering a design by Frank Lloyd Wright and Royal Barry Wills. While the Blackbourns preferred Wright's design (what we now know as Still Bend), the bank preferred to fund the Wills design.
