📚 Book sale starts today at Lester Public Library 📖

• Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.: Books, music CDs, audiobooks and DVDs are $1.
• Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.: BOGO!
• Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Fill a bag! For $1, fill a paper sack with all the items that fit. For $2, get a reusable book bag to fill.

🍎 Applefest is this Saturday in Two Rivers!

Come downtown and enjoy one of those great fall days that makes Two Rivers such a fun place to be this time of year.

Applefest runs Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with local vendors, live entertainment, plenty of great food, and activities for the whole family.

Grab a cup of coffee, bring the family, stroll downtown, support our local businesses and vendors, and enjoy a beautiful fall Saturday along the lakeshore.

Thank you to the amazing volunteers at Two Rivers Rotary Club for making this annual tradition possible.

ONE YEAR OF STEADY FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT...AND A LOOK AHEAD TO 2027

Last week, the Personnel & Finance Committee reviewed the City's General Fund performance through July, and the numbers continue to move in the right direction.

***Through the first 7 months of 2026, General Fund revenues are $444K higher than at the same point last year, while expenditures are $17k lower.

***Combined, that leaves the General Fund about $461k better positioned than it was at this point in 2025.

***That improvement reflects stronger revenues: including building permits, ambulance revenues and investment income, along with continued attention to managing expenses.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but after a year of focused effort, the trend is encouraging.

NOW WE TURN OUR ATTENTION TO THURSDAY BUDGET WORKSHOP

Residents are encouraged to join the Personnel & Finance Committee this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall as we continue working through the proposed 2027 Budget. This Thursday’s discussion will focus on two of our most important public services: the Police Department and Fire Department budgets.

These budget workshops are open to the public and are a great opportunity to see firsthand how City resources are allocated, what challenges our departments are facing, and how we're working to balance quality services with long-term financial sustainability.

We're making progress. And we invite the community to be part of the conversation as we build the 2027 budget.
