"Children: In Their Best Interest" is a juried student art exhibition that transformed areas of the Summit County Domestic Relations courthouse into a non-traditional public art gallery, offering visitors moments of reflection, hope, and emotional connection as they navigated the often complex realities of domestic relations proceedings.
By integrating student art into a civic space, "Children: In Their Best Interest" sought to humanize the courthouse experience. The project not only expanded access to the arts, but also invited young people to engage with their community in a meaningful way, amplifying their voices in a space where the outcomes often deeply affect children’s lives.
This exhibit has been on display in Akron since March 20, 2026 and closes on Tuesday, September 8th.
Our heartfelt thanks to Judge Katarina Cook and Micah Kraus who graciously agreed to lend a portion of this exhibit to the Twinsburg Public Library! Artwork created by students at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts (part of the Akron Public Schools) is on display here for the month of September!
