There is still time to register for one of Twinsburg’s most unique and relaxing community events—the annual Twinsburg Rotary River Run, happening this Sunday, July 19!

Many residents know the Rotary Club of Twinsburg through its Parade of Flags program, which fills our community with pride during the civic holidays we celebrate throughout the year. The River Run is another example of how this dedicated group of volunteers continues to make Twinsburg a better place.

This event gives participants the opportunity to experience our community from an entirely different perspective—from the waters of Tinker's Creek as it quietly meanders through Twinsburg.

During the 30- to 45-minute kayak trip, you will see firsthand how important the creek is to our area, the natural beauty that surrounds it and the wildlife that calls it home. It is also a rare opportunity to step away from the noise and pace of everyday life, enjoy a little quiet reflection and experience a side of Twinsburg that many residents have never seen.

The Rotary Club provides the kayaks and transportation, and snacks and refreshments will be available. The event is family-friendly and open to participants of all ages.

A special thank-you to our video partner, Community Focus, for beautifully capturing the peaceful River Run experience. The good news is that there is still time for you and your family to experience it yourselves!

Twinsburg is fortunate to have a group that makes learning about nature so much fun! 🦋

The Twinsburg Native Habitat Association brings together people who share a passion for protecting wildlife and creating healthy habitats through native plants, trees and shrubs. From native-plant workshops and winter seed sowing to salamander festivals, meadow walks and other hands-on adventures, the group gives people of all ages exciting opportunities to discover the natural world right here in our community.

The organization was inspired by the late Stanley Stine, Twinsburg’s longtime naturalist and field botanist. Stanley’s enthusiasm for nature and teaching touched thousands of local students and families through Outdoor Science programs, nature hikes, summer camps, the Salamander and Frog Festival and many other beloved activities. He also helped transform a former farm field into the Liberty Park Meadow, creating an important habitat for native plants, insects and birds.

Today, the Twinsburg Native Habitat Association is helping keep Stanley’s legacy alive by encouraging the same sense of curiosity, wonder and responsibility for the environment that he shared with our community for so many years.

Their next adventure is Moth Night, a free evening event on Wednesday, July 22, from 9:30–11:00 p.m. at the Stone House Meadow, 9270 Liberty Road. Naturalist Judy Semroc and local moth experts will use special lights to attract, photograph and identify moths and other nighttime insects. Bring a flashlight and bug spray, and prepare to see the meadow in an entirely new way! The rain date is July 29.

Thank you to the members and volunteers of the Twinsburg Native Habitat Association for protecting our natural spaces, educating our community and continuing the work Stanley loved so deeply. Twinsburg is truly lucky to have you! 💚

It was wonderful to stop by today’s 17th Annual Josh Miktarian Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing and see so many people continuing to honor Josh’s life, service and sacrifice.

After all these years, it is especially meaningful to see the Twinsburg Police Department, fellow officers, friends, family and community members come together to keep Josh’s memory alive while supporting scholarships in his name.

One of the most special moments of the day was seeing Josh’s daughter, Thea, out on the course. An avid golfer herself, Thea was golfing today and helping carry on a tradition that means so much to so many.

Josh’s legacy continues through his family, his fellow officers and the countless lives touched through this annual event.
