Did you know the City of Twinsburg requires bicycles and e-bikes to be registered with the Twinsburg Police Department?

City Ordinance 373.16 (Ord. 2026-081, Passed 05/26/26) requires the registration of bicycles and qualifying e-bikes within the City of Twinsburg.

Registration is free, easy, and helps us:

• Document ownership
• Identify your bicycle or e-bike by make, model, color, and serial number
• Return recovered bicycles and e-bikes to their rightful owners faster
• Maintain accurate registration records

A few things to know:

• Parents or guardians must complete registrations for juvenile riders.
• E-bikes require an inspection by the Twinsburg Police Department.
• Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 e-bikes may be registered.
• Electric motorcycles are not eligible and must be registered through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Think of registration as giving your bike an official identity. If your bicycle decides to take a detour without you, or someone else decides they like your bike a little too much, registration gives us valuable information to help get it back home.

And let's be honest, remembering your serial number after your bike is missing usually ranks right up there with remembering where you left your wallet or keys you swore you'd never lose.

Register today by scanning the QR code on our flyer or visiting:

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

At the Twinsburg Police Department, we believe that education, awareness, and community involvement are important parts of keeping our neighborhoods safe.
Every day, more than 300 people across the United States are directly impacted by gun violence. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community forever changed.

National Gun Violence Awareness Month is also the time when communities across the country participate in the movement. The campaign began in honor of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was tragically shot and killed in 2013. Her friends chose the color orange to raise awareness about gun violence and encourage conversations about prevention. Today, orange has become the national color of gun violence awareness, and the first Friday in June is recognized as National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

While awareness is important, prevention starts at home. Here are a few ways everyone can help:
• Store fi****ms securely using a gun safe, lock box, or trigger lock.
• Keep fi****ms unloaded when not in use.
• Store ammunition separately from fi****ms whenever possible.
• Talk with family members, especially children and teens, about firearm safety.
• If someone is struggling with a mental health crisis, seek help immediately and do not leave them with access to fi****ms.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available by calling or texting 988, the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

A safer community is built when we look out for one another, have difficult conversations, and take simple steps that can prevent tragedy.

Together, we can continue making Twinsburg a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

SCAM SEASON IS IN FULL BLOOM

The weather is getting warmer, flowers are blooming, and unfortunately... scammers are back in season too.

Recently, we've seen an increase in reports involving scammers pretending to be government agencies, utility companies, banks, tech support, and even law enforcement. Their goal is always the same: separate you from your money.

A few scams making the rounds right now:

• Someone claims to be from the FCC, IRS, Social Security, or another government agency and says you owe money or your account is in trouble.

• A caller demands payment using Bitcoin, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a payment app. That's your clue that something isn't right.

• A "grandchild" or family member suddenly needs emergency money and begs you not to tell anyone.

• A text message claims you have an unpaid toll, package delivery problem, or suspicious bank activity and urges you to click a link.

Let's make this simple:

Government agencies do not accept payment in gift cards.

The police do not call and demand Bitcoin.

The FCC is not collecting fines with cryptocurrency.

And your grandson probably isn't stranded in another state asking for Apple gift cards.

Before sending money, providing personal information, or clicking a link, stop and verify. Call the company, agency, or family member directly using a trusted phone number.

If something feels off, it probably is.

When in doubt, hang up, delete the message, and give us a call on our Non-Emergency Line: (330)425-1234.

The only thing scammers should be collecting is disappointment.

First, we introduced you to our newest K9, Dixi.

Now, to switch things up a bit, we’d like to introduce another one of our newest tools that helps us serve the community… our new drone.

While Dixi uses her nose to find things, the drone gives our officers a bird’s-eye view when every second counts.

This isn’t just a camera that flies around. This drone is equipped with advanced zoom capabilities, thermal imaging technology, and high-resolution cameras that help officers locate missing persons, search large areas, assist during emergencies, document crash scenes, assess storm damage, and provide critical information to officers on the ground.

What many people don’t see is the amount of work that happens behind the scenes before a drone ever leaves the ground. Members of our Drone Unit have dedicated countless hours to training and must obtain FAA certification before operating department aircraft. Our pilots continue training throughout the year to ensure they can safely and effectively use this technology when our community needs it most.

The investment isn’t just in the equipment. It’s in the training, professionalism, and commitment of the officers who operate it.

Whether it’s a K9 on the ground or a drone in the sky, our goal remains the same: giving our officers the tools they need to protect our community while safely bringing everyone home.

And before anyone asks… no, it can’t see what you ordered from Amazon, how many trips you made to the snack cabinet, or whether you actually stopped at that stop sign. Nice try.

Stay tuned as we share more about our Drone Unit and how this technology helps us serve Twinsburg.

Meet Dixi

The Twinsburg Police Department is excited to introduce the newest member of our police family, Dixi.

Dixi has officially begun training alongside her partner, Officer Powers, at Excel K-9 Services Inc. Over the coming months, the two will undergo extensive training to develop into a certified dual purpose K-9 team capable of serving our community in a variety of ways.

Once training is complete and the team earns certification through the State of Ohio, Dixi will be officially sworn in and take her place alongside K-9 Beny on the road. Together, they will support our officers, help keep our community safe, and continue the proud tradition established by the K-9 teams that came before them.

For now, Dixi has a lot to learn, Officer Powers has a lot of work to do, and both have plenty of training days ahead.

Please join us in welcoming Dixi to the Twinsburg Police Department family. We look forward to sharing updates as she progresses through training and begins her journey toward becoming Twinsburg’s newest K-9 partner.
