Spring burning restrictions are in place as warm, dry conditions continue across Minnesota.
With the snow gone, dry grass and debris are fully exposed and can ignite easily—making spring the most active wildfire season in the state. Burning vegetation like brush, leaves, grass clippings, and branches is the #1 cause of unintentional wildfires. Early-season restrictions help reduce that risk and have already cut wildfires by 30%.
👉🏽 Burning restrictions are currently in effect in Mahnomen and Norman counties.
When restrictions are in place, burning permits will not be activated—and in some cases, burning bans may cancel permits entirely or limit campfires.
Fire danger changes quickly with weather conditions, so always check before starting any outdoor fire.
