Three springs ago a resident in our neighborhood near Harrison Elementary School gifted us with Iris bulbs. For two springs, no flowers emerged, only leaves. In fact, the plants didn't look healthy the first year, yet they hung on for dear life, it seemed. Now, look at how beautiful the flowers blossomed in the 3rd spring.

That's a metaphor for what grief can be like. When we first grieve the passing of a loved one, we may feel lifeless. It's hard to grow. The emotional pain controls us. We may be in a fog. Yet, as we continue the grief journey, we may have moments when life does return. Then, slowly, gently, we experience blossoming moments. It's like what C.S. Lewis wrote in his grief's journey, "There was no sudden, striking, and emotional transition...Like the warming of a room..., when you first notice, they have already been going on for some time." Life is changed, and in place of our pain, wonderful blossoms appear.

Idaho Gives Begins at 12:01 am May 4. BKG is a participating member of the Idaho Nonprofit Corporation and are involved in Idaho Gives, a state-wide effort to create opportunities for many generous people to support wonderful service and community work by nonprofits in our state. We are just amazed at how much you have supported our program. Check on our website to review what we have done and view the ways that we support grieving children, teens, and families in Southern Idaho. Needless to say, we cannot exist without your support and this enables us to provide events and activities to all participants without any cost.

Because Kids Grieve provides support through day camps, school-based grief groups, monthly evening grief groups, and summer Camp Erin. Last year over 50 families participated in Because Kids Grieve events and activities. Many community organizations assist in financial support, yet there are many kids and families are in our community we could help through this vulnerable time in life. You will help us when you donate.
