Happy Earth Day!🌎

One of the simplest ways to protect our planet is by fixing household leaks. A small drip might not seem like much, but the average home can waste nearly 10,000 gallons of water each year due to leaks – enough to wash hundreds of loads of laundry. Water is one of Earth’s most vital resources, supporting our ecosystems, agriculture, and daily lives, yet much of it is lost before it’s ever used. Taking a few minutes this week to check faucets, toilets, and irrigation systems can make a meaningful difference in conserving water and reducing waste. This Earth Day, show your appreciation for our planet by making sure every drop counts!

Happy Easter from all of us at Twentynine Palms Water District!

As you prepare Easter meals, consider reusing the water from boiling eggs instead of letting it go to waste. Once cooled, this water can be used on indoor plants or outdoor landscapes. During the boiling process, small amounts of calcium and trace minerals from the eggshells dissolve into the water. Calcium is essential for plant structure and plays a key role in nutrient uptake, making this a simple and eco-friendly way to support plant health while conserving water.

Eggshells themselves are also a valuable resource. Rich in calcium carbonate, they can be crushed and added to compost or directly into garden soil, where they contribute important nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium over time.

Small changes like these can make a meaningful impact on both water conservation and soil health. Wishing you and your family a safe and joyful Easter!

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating what connects us all- love, community, and water. Water is at the heart of every home, every family dinner, every desert flower that blooms, and every moment shared with the ones we love. We’re grateful to serve a community that understands how precious this resource truly is.

Looking for a meaningful way to show love this year? Consider gifting potted native plants instead of cut flowers! They last longer, support local pollinators, and use less water over time. Or surprise your Valentine with a stylish reusable water bottle filled with TPWD water- a small gift that makes a big difference.

From our team to your family, Happy Valentine’s Day!

Join our General Manager, Matt Shragge, to discuss everything you need to know about your water rates! As part of our standard five-year review, a new rate report was completed and presented to our Board last month. The report outlines necessary investments in infrastructure improvements, ongoing maintenance and staffing, and the replacement of aging equipment among other needs. New rates based on this report will go into effect next year.

To support our commitment to transparency, GM Shragge is hosting a series of coffee chats to answer your questions and help explain the rate adjustment process. Coffee meetings will be held at the TPWD offices at 72401 Hatch Road on the following dates:

Today, we honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. Veterans Day is a time to recognize their selfless dedication to protecting the rights and freedoms we hold dear. One of those rights is our access to safe and affordable water—a resource as essential as freedom itself.

In tribute to our veterans, Twentynine Palms Water District offices will be closed today and will reopen tomorrow, November 12, at 7:30 am. To the veterans on our team, and to all veterans in our community, we express our heartfelt thanks. May we all work to protect the vital resources and freedoms they defended.
