“Special Delivery”

•An Air Force C-17 departs from 29 Palms while an AH-1Z prepares to spin up for concurrent operations.
•PATRIOT HOOK, a large-scale air mobility and contingency response exercise, took place in the Summer for five days. The exercise validated the HMLA’s ability to integrate with Air Force STRATLIFT to rapidly deploy, employ, and redeploy HMLA capabilities across time and space in a distributed, contested, and limited bandwidth environment beyond organic operational reach. According to the 452nd Air Mobility Wing: “The exercise involved more than 300 people who moved approximately one and one-half million pounds of cargo from three separate operating locations.”

“Walk the Talk”
Pilots from HMLA-267 and a Royal Navy Commando execute rehearsals prior to a time on station in support of 2/75th Ranger Regiment. Planning and integration are key aspects to effective mission ex*****on and an understated component of an aviator’s arsenal. During these walkthroughs, crews gather to discuss points of friction, employment of tactics and ordnance to maximize effects, and how the coordination will sound on the radios.

“When’s the hard stuff?”

•As part of SUMMER FURY, HMLA-267 was exposed to flash flooding that was at times 3 feet deep. This resulted from substantial, unforecasted storms that delivered heavy rainfall across the Ft Irwin node’s operating area in an extremely short amount of time.
•The Marines quickly and decisively implemented a hasty flood mitigation plan. Using E Tools, Marines dug trenches to divert the flow of water. Improvised flood defenses were also constructed by foraging for objects including MRE bags, tables, and most importantly previously discarded railroad ties which were used to buttress tent doors.

“Desert Stingers”

•HMLA-267 executed a detachment for training operations as part of Exercise SUMMER FURY 22.2 in Fort Irwin, and demonstrated the HMLA’s ability to conduct Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations, day and night, by rapidly implementing a forward deployed aviation capability combining resilience with relative economy.

Bombs away!

•Recently, HMLA-267 took a well earned break with the Stinger family. Stinger officers and spouses helped cook some delicious hotdogs and burgers while our Marines were busy throwing water balloons, kayaking, and playing baseball and basketball.

Top of the World.
•An HMLA-267 UH-1Y Huey perches on high terrain near the Carrizo Mountains in Imperial County, CA. UH-1Y aircrew actively train to execute landings to both prepared and unprepared surfaces in different terrain environments. This skill provides an exceptional mission flexibility for pre-planned and on call tasking such as casualty evacuation, tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel, or combat assault transport.

“The Golden Gate”

An HMLA-267 UH-1Y Huey transits along the San Francisco Peninsula in vicinity of Marin County in Northern California. Stinger aircraft execute these cross country flights to train in unfamiliar and challenging environments that provide more opportunities to deal with variations in terrain, altitude, temperature, and airspace.

Home run.

A light division of three HMLA-267 H-1s keep a tight formation as they overfly Petco Park during the Padres’ annual Marine Corps Appreciation Day. Stinger aircraft are intimately familiar with the local San Diego Airspace, with many pilots having worked or transited around the coastline in the past. Military flyovers are a time-honored tradition for major sports events or ceremonies.

It is a distinct honor to be able to display our Aces in front of the kind and welcoming San Diego community.

Nothing like a sunset at sea.

Stinger aircrew work hand-in-hand with the Navy Air Department aboard Landing Platform Dock (LPD) 23, the USS Anchorage, to ensure our crews can operate in a maritime environment anywhere in the world.
