I think it’s worth recognizing the relationship that has already been built between the City of Twentynine Palms and the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians.

Over the years, members of our City Council have had many opportunities to meet and talk with Tribal leadership, and the Tribe continues to show up for our community in so many ways.

From their Thanksgiving turkey giveaway and 4th of July fireworks, to supporting our high school with football helmets and providing a shuttle connecting Marines and Sailors to Freedom Plaza, the Tribe continues to give back to our community.

Their partnership and cultural presence at the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center at Freedom Plaza also help share the history and culture of the Indigenous people of this area.

There’s always room to grow and find new ways to work together, but it’s also important to recognize the good that’s already happening.

Thank you to the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians for everything you continue to do for our community. 🤝❤️

Something I’ve always noticed about Twentynine Palms is just how much culture is packed into a relatively small community. It’s honestly one of the most diverse places I’ve ever lived.

We have neighbors from so many different cultures and backgrounds, and that’s part of what makes Two Nine special.

The Pacific also holds a lot of memories for me. I was stationed in Guam and spent quite a bit of time throughout the Pacific and Southeast Asia, so seeing Pacific Islander and Polynesian culture represented here always brings back some good memories. 🌺

There are a lot of different stories and backgrounds that make up Two Nine, and I think that’s pretty special. ❤️

I really enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center today for their Labor Day BBQ. It was nice to sit down with some of our seniors, hear their stories, share a few laughs, and simply enjoy the afternoon together.

A big thank you to Larry Bowden, the Simi Dabah Sculpture Foundation, Robin Schlosser, and all the staff and volunteers with Reach Out Morongo Basin for putting this together.

Good food, great conversations, and even better company. ❤️
