Mrs. Sayles’ kindergarten class was getting hands-on with the letter N! After practicing the N sound and brainstorming words that begin with N, students used Play-Doh and pom-poms to create the letter N while working on letter formation and strengthening their fine motor skills. A fun way to turn literacy practice into something students can touch, build, and create! Thank you to Mrs. Sayles for making learning so engaging! ❤️🌪️

📚❤️ Starting the Year with Purpose at GFB! ❤️📚

Principal Barbara Quinn kicked off the school year with an exciting assembly to get our GFB students ready for a great year ahead! Students were challenged to choose one word that describes what they want their school community to look and feel like this year.

From kindness and respect to friendship and teamwork, our students shared meaningful words and ideas for creating a positive GFB community. We can’t wait to see these words come to life throughout the school year! ❤️🌪️

Today, the Tuxedo Union Free School District honors and remembers the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the heroes, first responders, and all those whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us.

Soaring Into a New School Year! 🌪️
We wrapped up our first week at GGM with a special school assembly! A big thank you to Dr. Cogliano for kicking off our school year and welcoming our Tornadoes back to school.

Thank you to Ms. Mui for reading Soar and reminding our students about embracing new challenges, believing in themselves, and reaching for their goals. 💙

And a special thank you to Twister, our Tornado mascot, for surprising our students and bringing plenty of laughs, smiles, and school spirit to our celebration! 🌪️😄

What a wonderful way to conclude our first week together. We’re ready to SOAR into a fantastic school year! 📚✨

GFB Middle and high school STEM students in Michelle Foligno’s STEM classes took on a Cup Stacking Team Building Challenge designed to put communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills to the test!

Working together, students had to develop a strategy, communicate effectively, adapt when things didn’t go as planned, and rely on one another to complete the challenge. The goal wasn’t just to stack cups, it was to learn how successful teams persevere.

A fun way to kick off STEM while building the skills that engineers, designers, and leaders use every day!

We are excited to share that two of our 8th graders, Zahniya and Brady, have been selected to participate in the 2026–2027 Junior Leadership Orange (JLO) Program! 🎉

JLO is a highly selective leadership development program that brings together emerging young leaders from across Orange County. Throughout the program, students will gain valuable knowledge, experiences, and skills to help them make a positive impact in their schools and communities.

We are so proud to have Zahniya and Brady represent Tuxedo UFSD and look forward to seeing all they accomplish throughout this exciting year of learning, leadership, and connection!
