🍭 Sweet as Me – Candy Costume Design & Sensory Bottles! 🍭

This week’s art session was a sweet mix of creativity and mindfulness!

Each student designed a candy-themed costume inspired by the candy they won playing Halloween trivia 🎃🍬connecting colors, patterns, and flavors to their own strengths and personalities.

We reflected on one question that got everyone thinking:
💭 “If your mood could be a flavor, what would it be?”

To wrap it up, we created sensory bottles full of fun — each one representing the things that help us stay calm, grounded, and present in the moment. 🩵

See if you can guess what candy they enjoyed by their costume design!

🎃🎨 GROUP ART REVEAL!

Each student received one mysterious square — no one knew what the final picture would be! They focused only on their tiny section, drawing every line and shade just as they saw it.

When we finally pieced it all together… surprise! It formed a full portrait of Frankenstein’s monster 👀💀

This project was all about teamwork, patience, and perspective — a reminder that when everyone contributes their piece, something amazing comes to life. 💚⚡️

👻🏚 “The Haunted House I’ve Outgrown”

This week’s art project brought self-reflection and mindfulness! Each youth designed their own haunted house to represent parts of themselves or their past they’ve outgrown. From cobwebbed attics of old memories to basements full of buried emotions, every detail told a powerful story of change.

Each house included a For Sale sign, showing what they’re ready to let go of — anger, fear, doubt, or even old habits that no longer fit who they’re becoming.

The creativity, honesty, and insight that came through these haunted homes were incredible. A perfect mix of Halloween spirit and real growth. 🎨💛

🎃 Today’s Art Project: “Pumpkin of My Life” 🎃

We explored growth, release, and inner strength through a hands-on torn-paper collage. Each pumpkin became a personal reflection — showing what we want to keep inside (like kindness, courage, and creativity) and what we’re ready to scoop out (like fear, stress, or doubt).

This sensory, mindful activity encouraged everyone to let go, rebuild, and shine from within — just like a glowing jack-o’-lantern lighting the way for new beginnings. 🍂🧡

✨🎨 Safe-Place Drawing – Finding Calm Through Art 🎨✨

Today our group explored the idea of creating a “safe place” through art. Using the five senses—sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste—participants imagined a space where they feel completely calm and at peace. 🌿🌊☀️

Just like Bob Ross found his safe place on the canvas, our artists built their own worlds free from stress and full of comfort. With pencils, colors, and imagination, they created peaceful places they can return to anytime they need grounding or strength. 💙

This activity helped remind us that safety doesn’t always have to be a physical space—it can be carried within us through the images, sounds, and feelings we create.
