🚘 Heads up, drivers! 🚘

Just a friendly reminder...........

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has made it easy to add an emergency contact to your driver's license record. The feature allows first responders to alert your loved ones in the event you're involved in a crash or have a medical emergency and can't share your information.

Adding a contact takes less than 5 mins! 👉 https://www.alea.gov/

As severe weather moves into the area, just a friendly reminder to stay whether aware for the next few days. A few good tips to remember are:

1.) Keep phone charged in case of a power outage. (or keep a battery powered radio available)

2.) Make sure you have good batteries in your flashlights (or light a few candles)

3.) If using a phone, download a local and reliable weather app (I.e.- WAFF 48 weather, News Chanel 19)

4.) Know where the safest places are throughout your home in case of significantly worse weather. (If in any type of mobile home, locate your nearest shelter)

Stay safe & God bless!

Please stay weather aware today. Projected high winds, heavy rain, and thunderstorms with some possible tornado activity.
Here are some tips in the event of a tornado.

• Get to the basement or inside a room with no windows on the lowest level of your home.
• If possible, avoid shelter in a room with windows.
• Protect your head with a helmet or some other type of protection.
• Use radio/TV/Cellphone if possible to stay up to date with weather conditions

** If you do not have a safe area to shelter in place, there is a storm shelter beside our department. **

Winds will increase into Thursday afternoon. Gusts will range between 35 and 45 mph in many areas throughout the day. We expect the max wind gusts to arrive with the storms ahead of the cold front. Wind gusts between 50 and 70 mph will be possible with these storms. There will be about a two hour window for these types of high winds and tornadoes. Based on the latest forecast guidance here are the times we expect to see the most intense weather for a few communities. Stay weather alert.
