Lake hours: sun up to sun down
Park day use hours: 6am-10pm
Office hours: 8:15am-4:45pm

Walk up reservations for same day overnight stay is accepted if there are any available sites. Highly recommend making reservations as far in advance as possible, especially during our busy season (typically lasts from March to November). To make reservations

Join AllKind Animal Shelter from Abilene on a hike with some furry friends, and maybe even meet one to take home! - Meet at the Elm Creek Trailhead below the CCC building.

The hike will be a little under a mile along the Elm Creek Trail. Entrance fees will be waived for those participating in the hike for the benefit of the dogs!

Whether you’re looking to adopt, thinking about fostering, or just want to give a shelter dog a great day, this event is for YOU. Come out, enjoy the fresh air, and help show these dogs what love feels like.

Our pool renovation has encountered unexpected delays and is taking a bit longer than we planned. The pool will remain closed until further notice. In the meantime, enjoy plenty of other activities like hiking, biking, birding, geocaching, and more. Thank you for your understanding!

We've received some great rain over the past few weeks, and the park is looking greener than ever! Come join us for Saturday program or our volunteer workday at the end of this month!

Please note there will be no programs on Saturday May 9th.

Unfortunately Wings on the Wind has been cancelled due to this morning's rain. See below for more information.

This morning's Junior Ranger Hike will also be cancelled.

We've made the difficult decision to CANCEL today's event.

We will look at rescheduling for some time this fall. We will share that news when we know for sure.

We are sad that we will miss seeing all of our old and new friends but who can complain when we are getting some much needed RAIN!

Come on out tomorrow for Wings On The Wind from 10 AM to 2 PM!

Update 04/18: 7:35am: This event is canceled. We hope to reschedule sometime in the fall.

Join us THIS Saturday at 10 AM at Abilene State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife for Wings on the Wind: A Science & Nature Festival!

The event runs until 2 PM, and admission into the park is just a $5 CASH donation per car at the gate .

We’re excited to have HTeaO and El Texican food trucks on site with items available for purchase. So come hungry and make a day of it!

This is a fun, family-friendly event you won’t want to miss.

And with cooler temps on the way, it should be a perfect day to be outdoors!
