Tuscaloosa County Foster Care Closet

We accept donations for children in foster care in Tuscaloosa County. All donations can be dropped off at Hope City Church!

We accept the following items: clothing (preemie-adult sizes), shoes, backpacks, duffel bags, and suitcases.

We want to give a huge thank you to the group of women who came to volunteer today. These ladies put in some serious work! 💪🏽

They hung all of our holiday clothes, put out fall clothing, and sorted through all donations. They hung up so many clothes that we actually ran out of kid’s hangers and space on the racks!

And, they also happen to be the University of Alabama football coaches’ wives. We are so grateful that they chose to spend time pouring back into our community and serving alongside us. ❤️🐘

Just a gentle reminder that we do not have space for large baby items at our closet! Please donate these items to University Church of Christ. You can contact them during normal business hours!

As foster parents, it’s a joy to watch the kids in your home participate in extracurricular activities but it can be a large additional cost. We love that we are able to help with those costs by providing free dance, softball, and baseball clothes thanks to your donations!

Today we had another free open “shop” day for our families. We had the largest amount of families served in one day at 26 families for a total of 90 people! Many families had never been before ❤️

Believe it or not, we still have SO much inventory despite all the now empty hangers. We are still working hard to sort through current donations and put them out in the rooms. We’d love for you to volunteer with us!

Need a break from cooking? No problem, we’ve got you covered! On July 16th from 4-8 Panera Bread in Midtown is hosting a Fundraiser Night to help us raise money for our Annual Back to School Shoe Giveaway. During this time, 30% of the net proceeds will be donated to TCFAPA. Please come out and enjoy a meal with the family while giving back to our local foster families. Also, share this post!

In order for us to get credit please share the attached flyer when you place your order. There’s also a code to enter for pickup orders.

It’s always a good day at the closet when we see a bunch of empty hangers on the rack after a family leaves! We love knowing they found a bunch of stylish/cute clothes in their sizes ❤️

Another great way to support foster families in our community! While the closet is a great resource, there’s nothing like a pair of brand new shoes for the start of the school year! If your company or organization is able to give financially, please reach out!

Today we had the joy of serving 17 foster families across four counties. Watching kids light up over new finds and seeing families connect with one another never gets old. Our hearts are so full, and we’re honored to keep showing up for these families. 💛

Sometimes it’s the behind the scenes moments that make the biggest difference. 💛

A volunteer taking time to vacuum our foster care closet might seem small, but it helps create a clean, welcoming space for families.

Thanks to our volunteers we are prepared to host many foster families tomorrow as they come pick out free clothing and shoes!
