The Alberta School of Performing Arts TASPA is a part of the Tuscaloosa City Schools and offers students a curriculum placing the visual and performing arts at the center of student learning.

The Alberta School of Performing Arts (TASPA) is a part of the Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) and offers K-8 students a curriculum placing the visual and performing arts at the center of student learning. The school embraces a trans-disciplinary model of education with a focus on developing creativity and critical thinking skills. At the Alberta School of Performing Arts, the arts serve as a tool i

n constructing the academic, artistic, and social growth of students. In addition to meeting standards of the TCS curriculum, TASPA students in the primary grads K-3 receive regular exposure to a variety of art forms including dance, theatre, visual art and music. Students attending TASPA in the intermediate grades 4 and 5 begin to focus on a particular art form as they expand their creative abilities. Middle school students in grades 6-8 experience a deep immersion in their fine arts specialties in addition to a rigorous, arts-infused core curriculum.

TASPA Friends and Families,

What an unforgettable adventure our TASPA Stars had in the Windy City! 🌆🚌✨

Our 5th–7th grade students spent an several days exploring the culture, history, architecture, science and excitement of Chicago during an educational experience they will never forget. From taking in breathtaking views at 360 Chicago with TILT, cruising through the city on the Wendella Architecture Tour, exploring world-class museums, visiting Millennium Park and The Bean, bowling at Pinstripes, and enjoying hands-on fun at ACTIVATE Chicago and Enchanted Castle, every day was packed with learning, laughter and lifelong memories. ❤️

Students also had the opportunity to: 📸 Take photos outside of the soon-to-open Obama Presidential Library and the Obama family home
🏎️ Enjoy indoor go-karts, bumper cars and other exciting attractions
🦖 Experience the Field Museum and Science & Industry Museum
🦁 Visit Brookfield Zoo
🍕 Enjoy some iconic Chicago food favorites, including Giordano’s Pizza and Cheesecake Factory

Most importantly, our students represented TASPA beautifully. Their behavior, excitement, curiosity and willingness to step outside of their comfort zones made us incredibly proud.

A HUGE thank you to our parents, chaperones, community supporters and everyone who helped make this trip possible. Opportunities like this truly change lives and expand horizons for our students. 🏙️❤️

Today, we proudly celebrated the achievements of our amazing 5th grade students!
The recognition ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and so were the students and families who came together to mark this special milestone.

A huge thank you goes out to our incredible teachers for the dedication, patience, and hard work you have poured into preparing our students for the excitement and challenges of transitioning to middle school. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Bryant Bank and College Hill Baptist Church for your continued support and for partnering with us year after year to help honor and celebrate our students’ accomplishments.

TASPA Friends and Families,

Our TASPA 4th grade students recently had an unforgettable adventure at Ocean Camp in Gulf Shores! 🌊🐢

Students had the opportunity to dive into hands-on learning experiences focused on marine life, conservation, and environmental awareness. From learning about sea turtles and excavating baby sea turtles, to exploring the sea and discovering incredible marine animals, our students gained knowledge that simply can’t be taught from a textbook alone.

Experiences like these help bring science to life while encouraging curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for protecting our oceans and wildlife. We are so proud of our TASPA Stars for representing our school so well and embracing every learning opportunity along the way!

Yesterday, we proudly celebrated our amazing 8th grade students as they prepare to take the next big step into 9th grade! ❤️

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and a true reflection of the growth, talent, resilience, and creativity of this special group of students. A huge thank you goes out to our incredible arts and core teachers, who have spent the last two years pouring into these students, creating safe spaces for them to grow, express themselves, discover who they are, and cultivate their many talents. Your love, patience, encouragement, and dedication have made a lasting impact.

We are proud to celebrate our 3rd grade students for performing at an outstanding 85% Sufficiency Rate on the ACAP Assessment! Even more exciting, 70% of our students scored a Level 3 or Level 4! 🎉📚
This accomplishment reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our incredible students and amazing 3rd grade teachers. Your perseverance, focus, and determination continue to make TASPA proud each and every day.
