It’s National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, and we’re celebrating how for Club kids across West Alabama!

Day One is all about being Future Ready. This summer, our teens are participating in the Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers program at Stillman College, gaining hands-on experience with robotics, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, augmented reality and more.

These experiences build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills and introduce Club teens to future opportunities in STEM and technology careers.

Stay tuned throughout the week as we highlight the programs, partners and staff helping Club kids learn, grow and prepare for what’s next!

In observance of Juneteenth, all Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama locations and our administrative office will be closed Friday, June 19. This includes our Hasson Center, Jaycee Park, Greensboro, and HCMS Clubs. Juneteenth is a time to reflect, remember, and honor freedom. We hope our Club families and community have a safe and meaningful day!

One month until Lemonade Day! 🍋

The countdown is officially on! In just one month, our Club Kids will be setting up lemonade stands in our Newly Rennovated Jaycee Park Club and putting their entrepreneurial skills to work.

Lemonade Day gives our Club Kids the chance to learn about running a business, managing money, setting goals, and serving their community, all while having fun and building confidence.

We can't wait to see all of their hard work come to life. Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to support our young entrepreneurs! Want to get involved? Visit bgcwestal.org/lemonade to learn more about sponsorship opportunities and how you can support Lemonade Day!

Our Club Kids spent time getting their hands dirty this week as they worked in the garden, planting, preparing beds, and learning more about what it takes to help things grow!

In Hale County, Club Kids also wrapped up their "Rooted in Innovation" project by creating biodomes and exploring how ecosystems work together.🌱

From the garden to the classroom, it was a week full of hands-on learning, teamwork, and creativity. We love seeing our Club Kids try new things, build new skills, and have fun along the way!

✨ Meet Our Staff Monday ✨

This week, we're shining the spotlight on Marcus, our Hasson Club Director!

Marcus has been part of the Boys & Girls Clubs family for five years and is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. A 2018 graduate of Abbeville Christian Academy, he continued his education and basketball career at Snead State, earning a degree in Physical Education.

When he's not at the Club, you can find him gaming, keeping up with sports, and spending time with family and friends. Known for his positive attitude and bright smile, Marcus is often the friendly face greeting our Hasson Club kids and parents at the door. His impact is evident both inside the Club and throughout the community, and his favorite part of his role is helping put every child in the best position to succeed and achieve their goals.

Thank you, Marcus, for your dedication to our Club Kids and for making a difference every day! 💙

Success isn't always about getting it right the first time… it's about never giving up. 💙

Recently, Taylen faced a challenge during a game of Operation. After struggling to remove a game piece, he became frustrated and wanted to quit. With encouragement from Club staff, Taylen was reminded that just because something is difficult doesn't mean it's impossible.

Instead of giving up, he kept trying. And when he finally succeeded, the room erupted with cheers! 🎉

Moments like these help our Club Kids build resilience, confidence, and problem-solving skills that will serve them far beyond the Club. At our Hale County Middle School Club, we strive to do everything with P.E.P. (Purpose, Excellence, and Pride), and Taylen is already putting those values into action!

Way to go, Taylen! 👏✨
